Very nice harvest those plants look amazing can't wait for some cured pic`s and a smoke report :bongin: :bong2: Keep up the good work virago420 your doing great! assit:
Yeah I know that method dude but I dont know a way to properly weigh the buds with the stems still attached so I figured I would just wait till they were dry and post up weights. Peace
wow, ive just been amazed by this grow from the beginning! you have done with CFLs what some amateur growers have lacked and been unable to do. The top canopy buds look very dense and frosty, i can already tell you will be enjoying those buds for quite some time. HAPPY TOKING! I am guessing your harvest will be a rough 2.5-3oz
If you want to get the most out of those CFLs try doing a scrog next round. If you do I promise you wont be disappointed!:new_popcornsmiley:
Congrats on growing some top notch buds! I'm with MK, I think in your setup, a SCROG would be the most efficient....... just imagine having a beautifully crafted carpet of buds, just inches away from your CFLs :laughing1:
Thanks everyone! And I would definately agree, to use CFLs efficiently SCROG is definately the way to go. Heres a pic of a dry nug. Total dry weight on plant #2 came in at 16 grams. I screwed up and left a fan on overnight and dried it alot faster than I had intended to. Oh well, a mistake I wont make again. Even though I dried it faster than I had intended, after smoking out a few friends last night I got nothing but compliments on how smooth it smoked. And I agree, way smoother than anything Ive ever smoked before. Peace
Well right now I dont have alot of plans other than finishing the cab I'm building which will have a 400W HPS. Im tired of running AC 24/7, so Im taking a little step back and tying up some loose ends before going on with the next grow. If I decide to use this CFL cab for flowering again then yes I will be doing a run using SCROG. But its going to require designing a much better carbon scrubber that doesnt cut down on airflow nearly as bad. Trying to pull through 3/4" of carbon just isnt cutting it right now as far as temps in the box are concerned. I have to keep the room at 65F to keep the box at 75F. Just isnt cost effective IMO with the yield I'm able to get with the CFLs. Im also having trouble finding time to keep up with everything Ive got going on. Remembering to feed/water my AK clones, the AK I'm trying to reveg, and my WW and Bubblelicious seedlings. And keep nutes mixed up far enough in advance so I dont have pH issues. So right now I'm going to focus on the new cab and getting my seedlings healthy and ready to go to flower when the new cab is completed. When I first started growing I had all the time in the world, but life is a little complicated right now and I'm just not doing a good job keeping on top of everything. Soon enough Ill get a system worked out and get everything dialed in and then Ill be stylin. Peace
Sounds like a plan. Growing kind buds isn't as easy it looks huh? Its almost a full time job in itself. At least with winter around the corner your temp problems will be easier to conquer
CFLs rock! I got two mamas in 2'x2' closet under 2 150w cfls,I also start my clones in there. It's what I used to start all my outdoor clones this year(had 2 more lights for that)(oh ya the pigs got my outdoor ) I've just started budding with cfls for the first time, got 4 scunk and 4 afghan kush in 4 litre containers and I keep the lights within a few inches of the plants. Most people have been telling me it can't be done with cfls and this thread proves what I've thought all along. I use 1 150w(sucks up 42 watts of power)per square foot, except for my mamas they are 2 bulbs for 4 square foot.I'm thinking of getting a couple more for them. CFLs are great for cheap/poor folk who just want a small personal grow,my 6 150 w bulbs are the equivalent of 4 regular 60w bulbs,no big power jump, they give off very little heat so you can keep things in a tight space.I well get some pics and show off my set up,I just wish this thread was started long ago,it would have saved me a lot of research.I found my bulbs at wal-mart by accident and went from there, was'nt a lot of info cause most said it could't be done.
Dry weight is in Well the final numbers are in. Three plants under 210W of CFLs yielded a total of 77 grams, or about 2.39 oz. Counting the branches I cut early for a test smoke it would probably be close to 2.5 oz. I was shooting for 2 so Im definately happy . Out of three plants there were two distinct phenos however no 2 plants smelled the same, so I guess there were 3, but 2 looked exactly the same while growing. So far Ive only smoked from one plant, but cant wait to give the other two a try after a good cure. Thanks to all who helped me out with this grow and to everyone thats stopped by and commented. Not entirely sure when the next grow will be really underway, Ill probably throw the WW and Bubblelicious seedlings into the cab tonight and flip to 12/12 so I can sex them. Peace out GK!
That sure is one pretty bud you got there. Real good job you did with those plants. I like for the bud to cure at least a month before I smoke it if possible, that's when it starts to get real good, and the flavor will change too. I look forward to your first smoke report. :bong2:
It smells very fruity, a citrus smell. The wife says it smells like oranges, lol. Taste is the same, very fruity and zero harshness. I dont feel its fair to give a proper smoke report without a good cure. Peace
Not once during my grow did I see any signs of hermies. I half expected plant 2 to hermie on me though because I put that plant through HELL. Well wouldnt you know it, I found one single lonely immature seed in one of the buds. Couldnt believe my eyes but it was there. I take full responsibility of that one seed though.
Great thread Virago! Very impressive first grow! Your learning man. There is a bright future for CFLS. Next round, try to run all cuttings, you should see your final weight almost double. I agree with MK also, I would go for the Jog, and scrog. Looks like the perfect space to grow some clones in a screen.. Great work man! assit: GFam
to bump this, but as i just ordered some fem ak48 seeds I decided to read through this entire thread. Awesome results man! How did they improve after the cure?
