Hello, new to the forum but have lurked quite a bit. I have a unique situation and need a bit of help. Here is my deal... I have 3 flowing girls growing outside in a 5gal bucket sunk in to the ground. They are about 3-4ft tall and a bit curved from my having tied them down. The other day I had a scare and now i'm a little worried about them being discovered by people from the next house over (kids playing ball in the yard, football lands in my yard, they hop over the fence and BAM. We also have a dog that likes to dig, killed a lone female last week!). I really don't think they will be discovered but better safe than sorry. The thing is, this is my first time growing indoor but def not my first time growing outdoors. The plants are small cuz of the amount of direct light they get per day. Probably no more than 3-4hrs a day. I have, what I believe is a 48" T12 ballast and a bowl shaped ballast 150w max (sorry,I don't know the technical term for it). Now my question... Considering the amount of light they currently get outside, if I bring them inside and put them in my closet that measures 48" wide x 30" deep and I think 8' tall and based on the equipment I have, could I closet these girls inside and still come off better than I would outside? I been reading all day on color temperatures, T5, T8, T12's, etc. But...indoor is not my strong area. And yes, $$$ is an issue so going to a HPS or HID isn't an option atm unless I can use the gear I already have. Trying to keep this all fluoro. I do have another batch of girls that are about 3 weeks ahead of the batch I am NOT worried about. I will leave them outside to finish as they are safe and they look good. I just want to finish this season up and smoke. Though I am considering an indoor op soon with clones from my outdoor fems. All feedback is appreciated. J
to hear about your dilemma. The problem here is she is in the ground with nothing to contain the roots. The root damage from digging her up might kill her. The neighbor kids probably don't know a pot plant from a tomato or a weed, but better safe than sorry.
my opinion would be to leave them in the ground anyways if at all possible. but do what you feel you have to. and the neighbor kids probably know what pot looks like, not to scare ya, my lil bro found the neighbors plants in their yard and he's 12. then again he found mine too and at first didnt believe they were mine.
No no no. The plants are in a 5 gal bucket with holes in the bottom so moving them indoors is no problem because the roots def haven't grown down that far. The neighbors in question live behind us on the next street over. They had a cookout or bday party or some shit. Young & middle ages adults were out in the yard as well tossing the ball around. A rare occassion for sure. But the question is IF I take these girls in to finish flowering, would it suffer, or would it do ok or even better than the 4 hrs of direct sunlight outside it's getting now? I think the weed will be ok outside honestly. If they have another...whatever i'll do what I did before, which was sneak up to the weed and pull up the bucket and put it in my shed. These plants have about another 3-4 weeks until they will be ripe. Thanks for the input and concern though. J
If you can keep the plants outside do it. If security demands they be brought in then you need better lights to flower well indoors. Just the way it works dude. cheers,
Well...first..if you have a regular shoplight T12....that ain't gonna do shit for 3-4' tall plants. You could use the right spectrum of T8 but they won't work on your ballast. Secondly......taking outdoor plants inside only invites pests into your house. And once they are there, they could cause you problems down the road with other indoor Ops. Not something I'd recommend. man. Only thing I would honestly recommend in your situation is maybe hitting up Home D-pot and grabbing some Arborvitaes or something to screen those chumpies right where they are.
Ok I guess I will keep them outside then, unless they are in fear of being discovered again. Given the amount of direct light they get I thought they might do better indoors. Here is a pic of the deal. /monthly_2009_09/fence1.jpg.7774ca4ded91fc400ff79871cca71b3e.jpg
i feel your stress looking at them, they seem verynice, myself have learned more about lst, i have 2 waterfarms, a bit of a pain in the ass because of neighbors:roulette: , allways working at night, you are working with soil , i am not, but i was growing 2 plants per farm , not no more, took one out of each because the roots were getting thick, no damage to them thank god, the whole thing is the paranoid thing it sucks, in the future i will stick to smaller pots with lst. good luck, and they look good try to save that baby.
