thought i'd share what i'm up to. 55gallon plastic barrel with the top cut off as my reservoir 2'x3' construction tub 140gph fountain pump on a timer 150w HPS in a DIY cooltube Airpump with a couple airstones to keep the lil fishies happy. Somewhere around 25 Goldfish in the barrel, basic Ebb & flow system on for 15-20minutes every 3 hours. Mostly a mix of bagseed, have a few GrowDoc Seeds mix started, and a few Early Misty from Nirvana. Two strawberries and some assorted spinach/lettuce and i think some peppers maybe. and just for fun heres a shot of one of the more indica doms i have outside.
Hey Nappy, Tryin to makes heads or tails of the hydro set-up. I get that it is an aqua-culture using fishwater. Canna showed a good example a couple of grows ago. What I'm puzzled by is the assortment of cups, plants and baskets and shit. Can you get a better pic of how that ebb-n-flow is set up? cheers,
first off let me say its hard to photograph the whole system as its built into the corner, behind a bookcase. basically the bin sits on the table and drains into the barrel. the reason for all the different cups and shit is so i can move everyone around and dont have the $ to spend on matching net pots. The medium is pea gravel, which doesnt retain water for very long so i let it flood a little longer than you probably should. Knock on wood, i havent checked ph yet, and the system has been up for around 5 weeks or so. The ebb & flow works with a drain and overflow pipe that drain into the barrel. the pump pushes water up the 1/2tube that goes through a 2" pvc pipe you can see in teh photo to anchor it to the gravel bed. the gravel bed below the cups serves as a place for beneficial bacteria n shits to do their whole ammonia nitrate nitrite cycle. the cups have holes in teh bottoms and fill up w/ water when the table floods. the lights only a 150 and there to supplement daylight adn left on to give everyone 24hr light. i'm plannin on re-workin this system to include a veg/flower chambers so i can keep some moms/clones and flower them in this big bin. any other questions, i'm here to learn & help where i can.
