So I set up the SECOND grow tent that was sent to me from eBay that I picked up (after the first one was so undersized it tore when I was setting it up) and the fuggin zipper at the bottom STILL WONT ZIP!!! Dirty mother of a f*ck! Has anyone else experienced any tent shrinkage that would lead to this end result? I'm happy the guy sent me a second unit, but for fkuc's sake send me a product half worth a shit. It wasn't the cheapest available, but it wasn't the most expensive, but I'd still like it to be functional. for the rant but I figured maybe its a common enough occurence (I'm 2 for 2) that others have some knowledge they'd like to share. Ready, GO! opcorn-2:
that sucks dude. we had some issues with our tent not quite fitting. we figured out we really had to squash our frame together and then it finally fit. now it's fine - maybe once they're on there, they loosen up a bit? seems like ours did. sorry bout your luck, man, try to squish the frame a bit more. i think once you get it zipped it will be fine. peace GTWT :XXhippylove:
Order some Panda Film. You can build your own tent. I used panda film and 1"X3/4" furring strips for the framing. The furring strips are 8' long and cost .98 cents each at Home Depot. I screw it together with cheap wood screws. Attach the film to the wood frame with a staple gun and close the doors with velcro.
Thanks for the input guys! I think I'll end up doing a bit of each. I'll try and see if I can monkey with the frame to make it fit, otherwise I've got an angle grinder that'll shorten up the B-poles real quick. I figure I only need about 2 inches off the poles and I'm golden. Maybe I can modify the other tent too and utilize both. he... he... he...:thumbs-up:
Hell Id modify them both the way you want them. I learned early on this grow shit if there is a will there is a way believe me!! :beerchug-2: Teamster6
what kind are you using? I use a secret jardin and that was a snap to put together. I love that thing:droooling:

The same thing happened to me when I purchased a grow tent off Ebay. The lil mother fucker wouldn't zip no matter what I did. I ended up building a new frame with 2x4's and 1x2's and never looked back. I made it an inch smaller via height and width just so there wouldn't be a problem and it works like it should now. Good luck
they sold you a product worth half a shit (your words) and you want to show them courtesy. If the tent is that bad you should let everyone in this community know so we don't make the same mistake and get ripped off asssit:
True true, it was from seller bestchoiceproducts. I do have to give them credit for trying. They sent me a second unit without asking for the first one back. I think I'll construct a frame for the first and then maybe start messing with clones and what not on grow #2 for continuous harvest.
Thanks for the heads-up Doc. Around here if anyone gets screwed we all like to learn from it. Our best tool is shared knowledge. Not only in growing but also in the best places to purchase products and genetics. cheers,
So True, but that's life in general. When I 'nursed', I loved working with the elderly. If you take the time to listen, you can learn VOLUMES! My best quote from someone who was in great shape, even for being 2 yrs. older than dirt. "Don't Retire To The Porch". Keep active ppl. If you're not, then get to it. If you're getting shitty service, fuck 'em. There's too many vendors to have to put up with any shit. If you're thinking of buying something new, using a new vendor, etc., just ask :thumbs-up:
I've got a tent myself and the zippers were a real bitch to get done up the first few times.. It's still a bit tough to do, but I think in doing so a few times I've either tightened the frame up or stretched the fabric just a little. Are yours just not doing up at all? edit: After rereading the thread I see that your frame is slightly too big? That sucks dude, I hope you can fix it up. At least you have a spare frame to work with! :thumbs-up: Good luck, hope you get it sorted out.
Its a few days after, but here are some pics. I'm no woodworker by any means but I fabbed up a frame using 2x4s at the base and top, and 1 1/2x1 1/2 furring strips for the vertical supports. It's about 6'6" tall and it does just fine now. My ladies appreciate it. Now, here are some pics:
Very Nice! :thumbs-up: They're looking great Doc! :cool-pix: I'm glad you got your tent troubles worked out.otleaf-3:
And a few more of the technical type aspects of it with a pic of the daytime ambient temp/humidity...
Yeah, about that... the two tallest plants (in the back) seem a lot less bushy then the two in the middle. Although I'm working with mixed bagseed (like from 3 different purchases over a year period) I didn't know if I should see THIS much variance between the strains. The day I moved everything into the basement I noticed the tallest one had the beginning stages of scorching on her top bud. Now I'm running a 600w MH conversion bulb so I'm sure they're getting PLENTY of light, and have been for awhile. Despite this, they do appear a little stretched (well, a few do) but they maintain their turgidity (word?) for now. Any suggestions or is this not a huge issue at this point (day 17 or so of flower. Its written downstairs, I'm just lazy)
Just an observation, but I think you could probably get that light a little closer to the tops of those plants. It would cut down on the stretch and increase bud density as well as help increase light penetration to the lowest bud sites.:thumbs-up:
Will do. I just got a little gun-shy when I saw what the light could do to the plants when they were in the closet. I'll adjust accordingly. Plus, its MUCH cooler now even with the light on b.c of where they are now so that may help as well. low/mid 70s daytime beats mid 90s all day (at least for my "shit won't catch on fire" paranoia).
