ok so I plan on getting that 100x scope from radio shack. right now i just have a magnifying glass to take a gander at them. so update. I am 5 weeks & 3 days in. I will continue to Fert every week. and only water when looking dry, or lighter. continue to check the tric's every day and look for them to be milky to slight amber. then once I notice that stop fert's and then flush the plant with good clean water. so am I pointed in the right direction. thanks for all the help so far guys/gal's
hey rook, lookin good for first time man! i grew for years in dirt. alternate feedings and waterings every time they are dry, that worked for me. it was about every 4 or 5 days. someone mentioned watering shortly before you are giving them food. i think that is a good idea if they are quite dry, about 30 mins before. i always stopped feeding when i knew they were down to their last 2 weeks of life, and started watering a little more frequently during that time to really flush them out. yeah, for sure you harvested that one too early......looks to me like 2 or 3 weeks left to go. they are at the stage where you will really see them plump up. good luck.........hoots
ok went and got a 30x-100x hand scope, and I can really see the Trics for sure now. they look clear to milky so far. and I am at the end of week 5. i got .5 oz out of that last plant.. its cureing as we speak. but yes I can see them getting fatter by the day.. so far so good. I will keep checking on the others and keep you gys posted. thanks
I bet that would havebeen an oz bro had u waited! But very good job for gettinon track bro ill b tuned in for sure!
today is the start of week 6. here are a few pics. The Tallest one she seams to have the denser bud sites. My favorite girl out of the whole group. random shots. how do they look? I used some paper clips to make the plants a little tighter so i can get them a little closer together. the hood a made is a little compact I need to make my hood a little wider. I so far like the CFL's. I think I will use them for the next few grows. and then upgrade to hid light. My other girl that I harvested too early is in the curing stage. I have had a few hit's of the littler dried nuggets. taste is pretty darn good. fallowed by a nice high. kinda sucks I made a rookie mistake and pulled her early. oh well you live and you learn. and tomorrow I do my weekly feed with my plant food. do you think i should hold of for a few days? or feed like usual every week? some of the leaves look a little dry... thanks guys.
NICE!!! They're looking awesome Rookie, looks like you'll be toking on the fruits of your labor very shortly. Rock on!
Your plants look great but DEF hold off on the feeding dude. You notice the tips of those large fan leaves curling down? That's too much N. The tips are also yellowed and a bit burned. Not bad but the plants are at their peak of nute tolerance. Any more and it could be disasterious. Only feed them ph adjusted water for the next few weeks. The plants on the right are showing sick signs as well. You see the splotchy leaves that are curling in? Looks like a deficiency. Have you checked the ph of your run off water? Also, top your plants dude! Haha. With CFL's, light concentration is EVERYTHING. The lower your canopy, the lower the light is to the floor which = more lumens per sq ft. Outside of that, the buds themselves look great. :good job:
Yep, at the most... Be checking those trichs! Mostly cloudy is what you want for optimum buzz If I was you I'd be preparing to start flushing them out with plain pH'd water for the last couple weeks before the chop, go ahead and get them yellowed out before the chop Makes your herb burn cleaner and it'll taste better after the cure, too. :good job:
ok I was going to hold off on the food. or cut it off completely. I dont know the PH of my water. its tap water and i let it sit without a cap or cover on it for more then 24hrs before i give it to the plants.. and I topped them like my 4th week into veg. I didnt add the 15 CFL lights until like my 1st week of 12/12. so they stretched... so should I not feed them all or lower the ratio of food to water mix? right now i am about 3/4th cup to a gallon of water. thanks for the help rollin Doobster: So when the tricks look clody do I go ahead and harvest? or is that the tell tell sign of I have a week or two left? Iwas told to wait till they show signs of amber.
Most plants stretch during flower anyway. It's normal, they are attempting to get those pistils up in the air so they can catch the pollen blowing by in the wind. Of course, we yank the males so there is no pollen, but that's what they're doing. Yeah you can cut the nutes off completely, no need to feed anymore. They're gonna die in the next few weeks anyway, and you want all that flushed out before you chop. You must have decent water. The pH of my water straight out of the tap is over 9, I couldn't grow decent herb WITHOUT a pH meter. Harvest when you feel like it Rook, mostly cloudy with a few beginning to turn amber is the optimum time for potency, but the herb won't glue you to the couch. If you want more couchlocky, "let the TV watch you" weed, then let them go til more trichs are amber.
I just checked them and the tops of the trics are milky and more clear toward the bottom... I am definitely gonna stop feeding them.... Just start flushing them....
I agree. As I have learned, pH is a MAJOR concern for every pot grower. I have this Milwaukee PH 600 meter I bought off ebay for $23 shipped. It works wonders great and shows you how much your tap water ph is after sitting as well as showing your ph AFTER you mix in your nutes. Plan to start topping in the first few weeks of seedling/clone growth. That's what I do and it is kick ass when you are trying to max your sq ft and have limited vertical space. (Check my grow thread in my sig for some pick ass topping pics)
Here's the one I have, the Oakton pH2 digital. It's a little more expensive ($55) than the Milwaukee r2t has (used to have one myself) but automatic temperature compensation and much easier calibration make it a much better choice. http://www.growkind.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=15489&stc=1&d=1280094343 /monthly_2010_07/57a6ca242430a_OaktonpH2.jpg.7e5cc93413a90d69a04c6d10a3553ed6.jpg
Thanks for the info... Maybe Ill go get one with my next check (This is RG's girlfriend) I haven't read all the way back in this thread. Is a 6.0 to 7.0 a good PH level?
Hi RG's girlfriend For soil growing, a pH level between 6.2 and 6.8 is the optimal range. For hydro, 5.5- 6 is the best. Doesn't have to be perfectly right on the number, as long as you get it in the good range the plants will be lovin' it. You can order either of those pH meters on Ebay. Go ahead and spend the money... Definitely worth it!
ok so now I have a little list of stuff to buy while I can. slowly but surely I will acquire the stuff I need. thanks for all the help guys. I'll keep checking the tric's every afternoon, and update y'all sometime in the middle of this week.
start of week 6 flowering thank you mrastro. I have been checking up on the tricks starting to turn about 25%+ milky on a majority of them.. so about 1-3 more weeks!?!?!?!? I cant wait. This will be my 3rd harvest out of many grow attempts threw the years lol. and by the looks of everything my largest looking yield. I have been doing alot of looking around on the site at grow room set ups. I want to over haul my closet grow space. I plan on building a shelf so that i can setup a lower veg cabnet, and a above flowering cabnet. with fresh air intake from outside and exhaust into the atic. i dont want to get into detail just yet but I will post a new closet grow setup when I am done. I basicly want to just grow 4-5 plants at a time. harvesting every 2-3 months. any seggestions. I would also like to try that Jogging method on the next grow.
