So what is keeping eveyone from going hydro? I am here to attest that hydro is easier and faster than soil everyday of the week. Instead of having to check water in all the pots and guessing if they need watered. Why not just check your PH/EC at the controller/res ? Drain N Fill once a week add nutes the next day add a little down the day after that. I will tell you within a month you will have it down to a science. The growth is AMAZING anything you have grown in soil will be literally twice as big in half the time.I flower most plants after 2 weeks veg and they get to be atleast 2 zones each indicas will have way more. I don't wanna hear about the flavor nonsense if you flush proper 6.0ph 10-12 days they taste the same side by side. So what is some criticism? Cost of some buckets and irrigation supplies? Fear that you will come home one day and your plants are just dead? What is the reason that if it is proven to be faster and healthier why not hydro? I'm not picking at soil growers I just recently went to all soiless within the past few months. Keeping 2 "moms" of each strain in hydro is easy basically i have to flower it within a month so it's just a few cuts before flower in the cloner. It get's very easy and clean to maintain a hydro setup. Hydro is really the only vacation safe system out there. I can fill my res to a level that I can let it go for 10 days no problem. I have nothing but good things to say. So what is some of the bad? Steelcity
To each their own. I like dirt. I enjoy dirt. Dirt is fun. Sometimes late at night I go to the local dirt pile and put on panties then roll....:confused4: :confused1: uh oh. Wrong forum.
I LOVE my RDWC setup. So easy it's crazy. My life has been so busy the past few weeks it's been such a pleasure knowing that I can not look in the room for 5+ days and open the door to beautiful healthy plants. By now, I've normally burned the hell out of the girls, but the Only problem I've had so far is the ladies getting too big and light burns!
ask ed, he says, and i agree, potency is greater in dirt. no arguments about any of the claims you make i know bigger and faster is with hydro.
:roffl: :roffl: :roffl: I don't grow hydro because I can't afford to flood my appartment, that would be very bad. But if I ever have the chance to grow in a basement, I will definitely try DWC and maybe an AeroFlo system. I had a good talk with a breeder from Paradise seeds at the Cannatrade last year, I think it was Luc. I had some questions about the Bella. He asked what I grew in and I told him soil, he couldn't believe that I'm growing in soil, and told me that I should switch. It was pretty funny, he got all excited telling me "hydro is the ferrari of growing, it grows way faster and you see the results instantly. Its like being a mad scienctist, complete control over your plants." Oh yeah, and he always called the nutrient/water mix "lemonade", which I thought was a pretty cool name for it.
I whole-heartedly DISAGREE. Medium of choice is inconsequential when it comes to potency, as long as you are providing the plant what it needs, when it needs it. I have said it many times, I can grow organically in soil, with minerals in soil, or hydro, and you won't be able to tell which bud was grown which way. I agree, hydro is like a Ferrari, and dirt is like a 1970 Ford Pinto. But both will get you where you want to go. I also notice it has a lot to do with the grower's mentality. People who do hydro systems are usually more technically or scientifically inclined, while people who grow in dirt are more artistic type's. It also has to do with comfort level, If you learned to drive in a 1970 Pinto, you might just want to keep on driving it because it's what you know. Trying to control a Pinto going 45 mph is a lot different than a Ferrari at 200 mph. (Though depending on how the Pinto is set up, even a cruise at 45 mph can be "exciting"! lol) Res, when you gonna quit playing with the kiddies in the sand box, and come jump in the pool with the big people? :roffl: (No offense to you dirt chuckers, just bashing on RR here.)
hmmmmmm.............. Like what others have said, comfort is a big thing for me personally. I completed my second grow, and I was learning the science of growing every step of the way. I feel my next grow will be tits - fear is what keeps me from changing, right now, anyways. Plus, as as Steel mentioned, I already have all my shit for soil. However, my next grow will be moved into my basement. The place where my room will be has a water and a drain connection. So a transition is possible. $ would be an issue for us, as the room as it is needs some crafty concealment, and it's going to take a bit of money to do that. Hydro guys, let me ask you this then - what do you think (very vague ballpark) would be an estimate for setting up hydro in my space? I have a 3 1/2 foot by 6 1/2 foot flower area, and a 3x3 veg area, very close to it. plumbing's already in the space... I'm already enticed by higher yields, but moving out of my newly established comfort zone is scary.... GTWT :XXhippylove:
Its all about how you want your setup. YOu can go cheap with more work or fancy with all the convience. simple as hempys to flood tables on pumps and timers. The fancier you go the more the costs are involved. Teamster6
I just started growing this year. Soil just seems so much easier and less intimitadating then hydro. Really just trying to get a grasp on all this, with nutes,ph, temps and all. Next grow i'm gonna do soil and hempy and research hydro a little more, but yes i would for sure like to get into hydro. Soil is a good learning experience for me for now, but hopefully next year at this time i will be there with you hydro dudes. peace
Big boys? Sandbox?! Hang on....panties are little tight...gotta start dating fat chick's if I'm gonna keep rolling in that dirt pile. I'll have you know my Pinto goes from zero to, to, well I don't how fast but it's fast. Kind of. Well, it's really all about the impression of speed, and when I'm wobbling down the road, blocking the fast lane, I feel like I'm going a thousand miles a hour. Fuck what all you guys behind me think.....I'm goin' fast baby! I think it comes down to simplicity. Dirt works, I don't grow enough MJ to care to switch, it's what I use in my vege tubs in the summer so I always have lots of it and I use the same fertilizers so I have lots of those too, I'm inherently lazy and starting into a new method feels like a pain my ample ass, dirt feels good under my nails, when I rub it into my palms then reach inside these tight panties it gives a special friction that hydro nutes just can't equal. Yeah, some sensations only dirt can give.
The mass amount of numbers scared me off for a few years with hydro, then USELESS made it retard proof with the GH 3part mixture he created.....made it waaaaay less intimidating I still keep moms in soil and run soil when i get the room, and the soil is just for fun and the challenge
I made the jump and I look back and just say...... why? Yes, CC Useless made it retard proof and the numbers, ph, and all the things that went with hydro confused me at first....than I saw the yields for the first grow.......why? :thumbs-up:
O ya because of Chris and Useless, we are goin mass Op next grow, all Ebb, actuall 70 of em. Useless can u give me info, bout ur awesome Formula of nutes. I was hoping to go with Advance Nutrients stuff and charts as usual. Have you tried Advanced Nutrients? Or you prefer your formula better? Chriscrete, same queation goes for ya. Thnx guys, info info.:anibong:
The Lucus mix is less agressive in growth and has more of a ph drift IMO/E.....it may be cheaper in your pocket to run but it isnt worth that i'd say Advanced Nutes are great nutes but its more of an entire marketing splurge if you ask me........In MY opinion, in any system if you need more than the basic food groups and stabilizers like the GH 3 part provides or something alike...then its reaching for hope.....if your able to attend to your ladies and read them then your the additives not "Hobo Bobs jungle ass rat bat shit juice".....Advanced has about 249 differant additives to run their line....that shit is atleast 4 times the cost to run against GH 3 part......it doesnt increase yield or potency either so whats the point or purpose?
Space. I grow in cabs and dont have room for res's and shit. Plus I dont sell anything and grow plenty for myself.
