I was looking for a list that leads back to social media being the direct result of this. Libya's government has control of the capitol. They have not won yet. My heart goes out to this world I feel like a lucky shithead for living in this country with walls made of daisies. I feel undeserving of such a happy life. Thanks be to my ancestors, I guess. ? Egypt ? Libya Saudi Arabia is planning a "day of rage" in one month to demand better elections/ women's rights, release of political prisoners, etc. I cannot wait to pay 5 bucks a gallon again. But if it means a better life for others, i'm game. To say the least, this time period will go down in the most intense in human history, in my opinion. We are witnessing some really unique stuff....People are being supressed everywhere, and they're not taking it anymore. Strength in numbers has never been so fucking true.
Tunisia and Egypt have succeeded so far. Others are trying. Bahrain is in the midst of trying to form a constitutional monarchy, and so far the leaders are responding positively. The people of Lybia are taking control city by city, and most of the military and internal people are supporting it. Gadaffi is fucked.
This is one of those "be careful what you wish for" times. If you think the government of "insert arab country here" is bad, just wait until it is overthrown and the next nutjob gets in power. The middle east is in the process of being turned into one big terrorist haven, mark my words.
Even though I doubt it, I am going to be optimistic about this and hope this really was a peoples revolution for democracy in the area. Though, even if it does happen in a few places, we still got Iran, Saudi Arabia, and many other places for the extremists to have fun. So...I wonder if there is an Islamic take over VS Democracy bet we can make in Vegas yet?
I've lived in that part of the world. Democracy as we know it in the USA will never happen in that part of the world, at least not in any of our lifetimes. Count on it.
