I went outside just now to check on my baby and I notice a strong smell, so I put my nose right over the leaves and there is this strong dank-like smell coming from it like from a fresh bud. Is that the THC? And I thought THC doesn't form until buds do. Can anyone go into detail on this?
It's a pot plant, therefore it has the smell of marijuana. Some varieties smell stronger than others, during veg and during flowering. Don't be worried about THC levels in a seedling. Although the plant always contains at least trace amounts of THC, the real THC production takes place during flowering, once the plant begins to produce trichomes.asssit:

Well, it isn't a bad sign. As far as if it's a good sign, well I would say it's promising. It may produce smelly buds, which in my book is always a plus. On the other hand it may mean nothing extraordinary at all. The smell of the vegging plant is not always a direct correlation to what the buds smell like. Guess you'll just have to wait and see.asssit:

why do people keep assuming i grow indoors? I go all natural outdoors. and you can smell it walking by it.
I've grown plants outdoors that had a pretty skunky aroma even early in veg. Whenever the wind would blow, I could get whiffs of skunky smell, even if I was several feet away from the plant. And yes some of those turned out to be males. If you're growing from regular seeds, then you have a 50%/50% chance of getting a female. :gl: You know that saying, "don't put all your eggs in one basket"? It applies here I think. If you only have 1 plant and it's from non feminized seed, you run the risk of having nothing come harvest time. asssit:
I can believe you smell it if outdoors, but 'strong', 'DANK' at 4 wks. (seedling, mind you; not a mature clone ??? 'My' CM is (if I'm not too fucked-up) Afghanyx Skunk #1 Smells alittle drying, but nothing, really, in veg. or flower. At 5, 6, 7, 8 wks. there's minimal smell and anything with Skunk #1 is a stronger-smelling weed. Once done drying, it reeks! I use a ziplock. I'm pretty certain, when near your plant(s), it's just a faint smell, if that. Relax :thumbs-up:
