i was thinkin about growin outside this season, and was wondering how big my plants should be when transfering them to outside, and when is too late to do that
Good question, i'm doing my first real outside grow this spring, and to tell ya the truth, i'm psyched, just bought some fine sativa's from bad-ass buds, called T.N.R. anyhow, kc brains i think, check out that description, mostly sativa, a little thai, yea that'll work....i was sort of wandering that myself, how long before final transplant, and also, whether i should still use a 7 gal container or just put em the ground, although the natural soil is too sandy ( 15 miles from Atlantic ocean), good luck with the outdoor grow.
Depends on where you live and how big you want your plants. If you dont care about how big they get then set them out after there is no chance of frost.I germ. them inside and then set them outside as soon as I put them into containers.Depending on where you are growing(backyard,woods,farm,ect...)if you grow them in containers you can always move them if you suspect trouble(unless they are 7'tall then it can be a bitch).
If you're gonna plant in the ground, use potting soil just as you would growing in containers. The best containers I've seen are these ones made of what looks like cardboard. Bigger containers = bigger plants.
What I usually do is start them in small pots, and put them outside with the natural light, and move the pots into shelter if the weather is bad and so forth. When they are big enough that they can and will survive by themselves I transplant them into the ground where they will grow the remainder of the time. I also put top soil in the hole, before I put the plant, then I put the plant, then I cover it up for the ground dirt, so it looks like they are growing wild.
When taking indoor started plants outdoors .. To limit transplant shock,, put in a cold frame "unheated green house" to help acclimate them .. Use vitamin b-1 with watering " vitamin-b is sold in plant stores" . When planting try to pick a day that is overcast or cool.. Let roots dry enough so that they are easier to handle just before planting,,also only cover plant to current soil line,, water good with vitamin-b water after planting ..Have fun
