Can someone help me out with cameras.

Need a new one, want a good camera for a good price.

What do I look for, and whats a good brand?

I don't want a $1000 camera either...just something decent for about 200 if possible. I want to be able to use it, not one of those with a 1000 options, does me no good if I don't know how to use them

Had a couple PowerShots. Nice little camera. Easy to use. Pick up a cheap tripod while you're at it.:thumbs-up: Use the tripod with the "fill in" flash function, auto shutter timer and auto "brightness" or f-stop. You'll start getting great pics.

And take A LOT of pics.

What the hell is f stop and shit like that. Yea I'm a retard when it comes to pics, you got a model or something.

Do I want the most megapixels or is that just BS, i know what pixels are, but I've seen cameras that are hella expensive have less pixels than cheapos

Just lost on this, would prefer something that can use when taking the kids out also, damn what happened to the good old days 35 mm???....well I guess the porn wouldn't be as good now without digital cameras.

    What does fill in do..

Ok....unless you're blowing up portrait sized wall prints anything over 10 megapixels is overkill for most point and shoots so save some $$ there. Make sure the zoom is NOT digital. You want a mechanical zoom for best resolution. Most pocket cams are either digital zoom or a combination mech and digi.

"fiill in flash" is a setting in the flash selection. It's still within the auto function of point and shoot cams. It's a softer less severe flash than standard usually used for removing shadows on well lit subjects, hence the "fill in". F-stop is the size of the lens aperture setting on old SLR's (35mm) and DSLR's, it adjusts the amount of light hitting the film or photo sensor. Basically, a lower f-stop with increased exposure time equals a sharper image.

If you use the tripod, shutter timer and fill in flash then let the camera auto the f-stop or exposure time you'll be golden.

Go with Pixels, which mean more pixels, the less blurry the image is. Which what we are aiming for.

And like RR said, take alot of pictures, and then just do prime selection out of 100's. Seriuously. I take like 100 pictures of one plant, and go down to the best 5.

Tripod is best, so you dont get the shaking hands, and more of a blurry pics.

All those Auto lighting function is great, cause it knows when to add light, and when less light, depending on your room light. Sometimes it even adds a flash :) great stuff.

Im sorry I cant recomend a best camera, cause even I have a chepo... some cheap cameras work great. O and you can always use a smart phone, just make sure to turn OFF GEO-tagging , automatic location.

You want one that takes pics at the highest megapixel (8MP is common on nice quality cameras), if 8MP's aren't in your range then check out 5MP's. I'll do a little searching and show you the best camera for the money. Give me a price range?

I was hoping to find something for around $200-300.

I just want something that is point and shoot but will take good pix too for close up macro shots. Dont know if I'm being unreasonable but I see cameras for like !00-150 all the time and I don't want to spend 600+ then buy lens and stuff.

Something basic that will do the job, but has the ability to take good bud porn pix.

I've seen those ads with Aston Kutcher before and was thinking about one of those, but I don't know how much they are if that's overkill.

Don't need a mercedes, but don't want a yugo either.

    edit

wife said 2-300 is unreasonable expectations for what I want, so if it's higher i guess it's higher, just don't need something with a shitload of options that I'll never use if you know what i mean

nippie canon makes a nice powershot and so does nikon. Most point and shoots have an auto function which sets everything for you. They also may have a macro function which is awesome for checking trics.

check out the canon powershot sx500 is.... its 16 megapixels and has a 30x optical zoom. optical is mechanical as RR said. it means its a true zoom vs a digitally blown up zoom/ That camera retails around $249

Thanks bigbud. That's something like what I was thinking, just don't know about models or which ones are crap, what a good deal is.

I hate sales reps...feel dirty when I talk to them :poop:....so I like to know what I want before I go to the store

so that would be a good all around camera for normal use?

buy an Olympus, and make sure that it has a super macro funktion (most Olympus cams do). I got this one, its a great point and shoot camera, with an insane 30X optical zoom and a great macro and super macro funktion... and its still in your price range

not convinced? Ask Mr Greenjeans what brand camera he uses for his great macros... pssst, its also a Olympus

what model or line do I want to look at?

Also, I know this sounds stupid, but do all cameras work with Apple and PCs products because we have both in our house?

thanks guys, I think I'm going to bestbuy and looking at both them.

Link really informative link about macro..thanks

maybe holding them in my hand and looking at how ez-hard they are to use will point me in one way or another.

Are tripods universal? Any do or don't when buying one?

Nice cam Link. I have a waterproof pocket Olympus I love. Tripods are universal. Get one that has a crank to lower or raise the camera. A basic cheap Targus is more than adequate.
