    Greetings

I am just finishing up putting up the panda film. I am planning on a velcro attached 'door' that will roll up out of the way for access.

I attached 2 inch industrial strength velcro (hook side) around the door frame - top, bottom and sides. I secured it with staples as well as the velcro sticky side.

I then pressed on the latch side of the velcro - sticky side facing out.

Next I cut the door flap and pressed it tightly on the exposed sticky side of the velcro.

No matter how careful I am pulling apart the flap, the velcro separates from the panda film.

Can anyone suggest an additional adhesive I can apply to the sticky side of the velcro so it will become part of the panda film??

    Thanks

I tacked/nailed down my panda film, and used zippers for the entrances.

thread and needle would tear the panda film

Zipper is an interesting idea - where can one get stick on zippers??

I would prefer just to find the right adhesive for the mylar.

seems like the panda film is sort of like parchment paper, maybe get a tarp or something that the velcro does stick to and staple the panda to that?

I am looking for a light proof seal and an air tight (somewhat) seal so I can control the air in and out of the tent.

    - overlap will not cut it

On the two pieces of panda paper where each will overlap do this...take a 1xwhatever your length is and wrap it with the edge of the panda paper. Now staple all that so what you end up with is a 1x stapled into the panda. Now do the same thing to the other side. Now staple your velcro to the board. Just open gently and it should work.

First panda film is a mylar - not paper, its already 5.5 mils thick. I dont think I want to frame the door - I saw CC in his video used the same technique - a simply velcro sealed roll-up flap.

Just need some help getting 'industrial strengh' velcro to stick to panda film

I got my zippers at the hydro shop. They had em for like 12 bucks a piece for 7 feet long stick-on zippers. You just put it where you want it, unzip it, and make your cut with a razor. I imagine these could be ordered online, too.

Just use a heavy duty office stapler to staple the velcro to the panda film. That's what I did and it worked beautifully. put a staple every 6 inches and the adhesive won't separate from the panda film anymore. It held up well to the negative pressure created by my exhaust fan as well so I know it will do exactly what you're wanting. :thumbs-up: :redbong:

just pull the plastic tight, work it down the line all smooth, pull off the sticky protector stuff and then turn on the light inside the tent, within a day or so it'll be adhered to the panda film, bet yo life!!!!!!!

Jus need a lil heat dude!

    OK Got some updates..

I called the company that makes Velcro - their customer service folks were very helpful. Apparently there are two types of adhesive used, one rubber based and one acrylic based. The part number I have is rubber based and will not adhere correctly to mylar without help.

Anyway - the tech agreed that Gorilla Glue would work great. I did a test sample - panda film with velcro glued with Gorilla glue. After two hour setup this will never come apart - problem solved.

Also - cleaned the mylar surfaces with Alchohol before gluing.

And yes - the ambient temp in the room is now 76F

    Thanks everyone for you input

Home Depot has them also. look in the area with the heavy plastics. They're red. Comes in a set of 2. I put both in, and I only actually use 1. I have panda film as well. Won't come off at all.
