That's gonna be a pretty big garden. I hope you have security. Can't wait to see pictures of it in bloom!
That was my first thought exactly. Tx cotton country isn't a good place to be charged with cultivation.
Well I'm working on the security. I have corn, sunflowers, tomatoes and such to help blend the mj. My pops has some shade cloth I can use for any whirly birds, not to worried about those as I'm out in the country. Nearest neighbors are a good 1-2 acres away. I also am putting up a 3' fence for added privacy.
It sure isn't. I generally keep to myself though and don't throw raging parties or crap like that. As long as I keep the yard mowed my neighbors mind their own business, and I do likewise. Plus my dog won't let anyone in the yard she doesn't know, lol she even chases birds off.
I expanded my new outdoor spot to about a 10'x25' long space, 5ft high fence Going to run 15+ plants....hoping for 5+ lbs dug a trough about 20ft from a nearby water source, then dugout another trough that was 3wide by 10 long, 2ft deep, that will pond the water that comes from the trench uphill, i will have water all year long now at my disposal, that was a huge issue in the past and kept the plants smaller by default next im climbing trees and opening up the canopy overhead, ill post pics when im ready to plant in a few weeks Also rebuilt my entire indoor spaces as well, for the final time this time
Yall are some brave mother fuckers to do outdoor in TX. Especially on your own property. Then the droughts on top of it? Nah I'll stay indoors. Good luck though
The truck is to live out in the county, I'm also at the end of a dirt road on 2 acres. During summer drought I water every other day and keep my plants in a vegetable garden. Also, never sit and stare at them. Scope em out while pulling weeds or watering. I only had one bad experience when I lived at my pops. The dude behind us rolled up one night when I was drunk and had my face buried in flowering heaven. It was about 9:00 at night and he just HAD to come ask what I was growing in my garden. I played it off saying oh, you know, corn, radishes, melons, etc. all the while ignoring the 4' elephant in the middle of it all. Last thing he said was "man, y'all are growin all kinds of stuff". Plant came down the next day. Never heard a word though, hell they smelled us blazing all the time anyway. Scared the shit outta me though.
A couple things I would consider: 1-Rippers and cops aren't afraid of dogs. 2-Helicopters can see in HD in the day and night. 3-Corn takes about 80 days. Might have to plant a late crop before the first ones are ripe. I'm spoiled being in So Cal. All we have to do to keep the cops from kicking the doors in is post a copy of our doctor's rec near the garden. If you're just growing a couple plants, they don't really care. The feds are a different story, but I haven't known any personal gardener who's had trouble with them.
Sounds pretty badass. I wish I had a creek or something nearby, that'd be a lot less time consuming. Looking forward to seeing it. asssit:
Now that makes me miss Cali a lot. Grew up in SoCal myself, I actually had cops give me back my stash and just tell me to go home.
Did a repot for a lil while till just a little bit longer days. /monthly_2013_04/image.jpg.fccb74126cd1579abb8add8040928773.jpg
Did a count, I have a total 20 plants from the original 36. Some died, some where males. HOLY SHIT 20! They are all females except for 2 I am still suspect on. Will know soon, almost time to go inground, days are nice and long. The suns already getting brutal so I have to watch them till they all harden off. Got to find a guerrilla spot for a few I think cause 20 Is to many to keep in the yard. Working on a summer shade for the top of the garden plot, just in case I for some reason i have a flyover. Grass in the back is 4' high and I'm not weed whacking the fence, so added coverage. Gettin that good ole paranoia goin!!
Hope everyone's plants are doing well. These are my two ko kush that I hit with a male cheesequake. They are starting to reveg hard. I'll probably pick them in the next couple of weeks. It doesn't look like I am going to get many seeds, but more than one is fine by me.
Going fairly well out here, next on the menu is overhead security with a shade cloth screen over the whole garden. It will be good to have cause the sun out here can strip the hide off a buffalo. Those look really nice midnight! I'm looking forward to seeing what all you grow out this year, your last years grow was insane!!
Make sure you harden them off by placing them outside for only a short time at first and slowly increasing the time, or put them under some kind of shade at first, as they need to get used to the sunlight. I plant outside first week of June which is plenty of time for them to get big. I do that because the rainfall is very light here in Apr and May. Cuts way back on my watering. If you can find average rainfalls for your area online it might give you an idea when you would be needing to water by hand. Also, I say it every year, but I haven't heard of anyone else using them yet - Polymers, water polymers, water crystals. They go by a few different names. They are little jelly like pieces of material that soak up shit loads of water and the slowly release it. I always put a bunch in the hole with each transplant. Keeps them from drying out, especially when they are establishing themselves. I'll be going outdoors MFing guerilla style with 10 or 12 Beyond The Brain's from Mandala seeds. Every year some new problem fucks me up. There are these little caterpillars that bore into the stem and their shit or whatever causes massive, quick bud rot. I haven't figured out how to kill them, but I did figure out that if I mismatch the plants with their life cycle, I can avoid them. They hole up early, anything indica dom that flowers early gets wiped out, I had a couple that were just a few weeks longer than usual last year and they suffered some damage, but it was reduced, and the 100% sativa ones I grew last year had no bug damage. But, those 100% sativas grew so big, and I didn't stake them up early enough and I lost a lot from broken plants. That's where I will improve this year. Top them all, no bushes, trees look nice, but... and stake them early. Hopefully, I'll get a bunch of healthy robust bushes this year. :read2:
Glad to see you in on this Hank. Those little caterpillar bastards, BT will take care of them. It is organic, safe and non toxic to humans. http://www.saferbrand.com/store/garden-care/5160 "When the B.t. is ingested by the worm, it works as a gut rot poison that makes the worm stop feeding. The caterpillar or worm will stop feeding immediately and die within days of malnutrition. This caterpillar killer will keep your lawn and organic garden, free from caterpillars all year long." BT will not harm beneficial insects either.
I go guerilla outdoors every year. It's fun. This will be year 4 for me. That company doesn't ship overseas, and I highly doubt it's available locally, but thanks. Maybe I can find someone willing to ship here. Also, that kinda stuff needs to be applied regularly, I think. I visit my plants at most once a week, sometimes two weeks.
I started prepping my spot for my outdoor plant. I recycled a bunch of old soil from past grows to fill in this barrel planter. It had some old potting soil in it from last years herb garden. I had been growing common sage in it for a couple years. I amended the old soil with some bat guano additional perlite and dolomite lime. I think I may add a little bit of this all purpose organic dry fertilizer to the mix as well as some additional mycos when I plant my clone out here. This is my spot. It's shielded from view pretty well. The neighbor on this side of my house is super cool and they know I smoke and am a medical patient so they don't trip at all. However I don't want a monster bush that can be seen from afar so I plan to grow a monster bush that is short and wide. I will be building a simple frame and putting a screen above the plant probably about 5'x4' so I can make the plant SCROG Style wide with a bunch of colas. As you can see in this pic the fence is not very high so it must stay short. I still don't know what strain I will be growing out here yet. I'll decide in the next couple of weeks.
