I think you should flower them when they are fairly short. I'm still trying to get my plants into flowering at a shorter height. I think about 12 inches might be best for my set-up, which is a 600 watt light like yours. I have all these tallish, lanky plants, but the 600 doesn't really penetrate deeper than a foot or so, so the bottom half of the plant, or more, doesn't get any light basically and is just wasted time and space. Don't make the mistake of think a longer veg will always give you a bigger yield. With my 600, penetration is very limited and I'm only getting good buds in the top foot or so of the canopy.
do yourself a favor and lolipop that shit. Your light won't penetrate the canopy with all those fan leaves. You'll be stuck with nice colas and a bunch of popcorn.
That's what I was getting at, and lolipopping is good for airflow at the bottom of the tent, but all that empty space represents wasted time. Unless you're pushing a lot of watts, flowering at about a foot or so seems best to me. asssit:
So some of you picked up on my rookie mistake (one page back) - I must smoke too much or something - couldn't be old age asssit: This is a classic rookie mistake i was under the impression seeds had a flower period - time to flower - same for lettuce as for pot - from planting to flower- i incorrectly assumed pot worked the same and figured i had five weeks or so in flower as they already had 4 weeks under the belt - just like any other seed you buy. i can deal with this - will just flip the veg tent ( have a spare hps) when the time comes - they can go in there until the flower tent crop is done the. i will move them then i smoke way too much - just didnt think flower stage was 8 weeks
1 week after flipBeen a busy week since I made the flip to HPS/12/12.I upgraded to 1000 watt HPS (from 600) - as I said in a post I did for what I learned as a beginner I stress about quality equipment - so I put my money where my mouth was The three in the back are Jackberry xxKoKush and the three up front are Purple Power. /monthly_2013_05/IMG_2218.jpg.d032986e7a8429db9804a701cd97fb6a.jpg

Looks like you got a handle on things. Nice work:thumbs-up: DXE give us a shot across the bottom of the plants so we can see how far you've trimmed them up. I'd like to see how much growth has returned from their last trimming. It's going to be a jungle in there in another couple if weeks so you want to make sure you get ever thing trim back again pretty soon. What you don't want to be midway through week 5 & have to trim them up again. Cheers Duc
Nice grow man. Im about to start my 12/12 this week. We should be harvesting about the same time. My equipment is used beat up and pretty cheap, but it works and Im broke and thats how I roll. :roffl: Tomorrow I will update, you should check it out. peace.:bong-2:
3 weeks flowerwell going into the 4th week of flower and the girls are looking and smelling quite nice.I gotta say that 1K HPS is the way to go..... /monthly_2013_06/IMG_2265.jpg.ed95679e07af33a82afbe55a131f139e.jpg /monthly_2013_06/IMG_2267.jpg.bebab6b635d091ca5cadf5a5ae7bf772.jpg
Houston we have a problem????Well - yesterday I opened the tent to see a good deal of yellowed leaves, mostly on one plant but some an all. No spotting or mottling - just yellow. Other than that the leaves looked normal - no curling up or down. The plants have been in those pots for 4 weeks now with no additional nutes added - so after a panic call to my GK mentor (thanks duc)I gave them some MG and N - some epsom salt (1tsp/gal) and some dramm K (1tbsp/gal).They are looking better today (see picture) and the sweet smell is back as strong as ever. What do you think?? /monthly_2013_06/IMG_2277.jpg.d2454f7121aa2db5fe39656dd4384374.jpg
Yeah, they are just hungry. What you gave them should help some. Other than that they look good though. :good job: asssit:
