Fair point Res. Simple answer is,he already attributes God or Jesus with saving my life and i gotta say i find it cute. Not the right answer though eh?:icon_biggrin: Who am i to make him question something he readily accepts. As T6 said let him make up his own mind when he comes of age.I rejected religion at the age of 11 or 12 and its only after recent events in my life where im "open" to the idea that theres more to life than meets the eye. Maybe i shouldnt assign godlike powers and associations to a man in the sky but then again maybe i shouldnt let him think santa claus is watching his behaviour day in day out to see if he goes on the naughty or nice list each year. Just makes my job easier, again wrong answer but thats the truth of it. Id rather my kid had some sort of awareness though and can make his own mind up than to have him ignorant of it and never know anything of it. If it gives my kid comfort then im all for it. The trinity is a contentious issue.I can read scripture all day long and i still dont see where those fucking idiots at Nicea got their trinity bullshit from. Jesus in my mind is a son of God,not the same as God. And the holy spirit is an entity all on its own. For every scripture some catholic digs out to back up the trinity i can just as soon find one that demolishes the theory and this is why i find it hard to subscribe to any one religion cos they ALL were based on a mans agenda or perspective. I firmly believe the bible IS for each persn to decide what it means and not some religion. If you read it and live it then i dont see the problem. All this shit about the right religion really annoys me.Every religion has a grain of truth in it somewhere.

If God is the same as Jesus and the holy spirit then Jesus wouldnt need to pray to God for strength at his weakest moments. The fact Jesus had weak moments to me confirms he isnt God. Does he have powers through his belief and obediance to God.I think so. I find that people who have the biggest issues accepting any kind of spiritual shit are usually the people who have issues humbling themselves.I used to be one of them cats but when you get humbled you sometimes realise Man aint the be all and end all. I didnt say Jesus was only a philosopher though. I firmly believe in an afterlife and i believe you wont be able to enter that afterlife unless you accept Jesus in some shape or form.Again i dont know the answers, just trying to establish the questions first:ebert:

Dont drag me back into this!! Im cracking open a beer and we all know where that leads:rofl:

Nah man, see...there is God, and Jesus IS god but in human form, and the Holy Spirit IS God, but in voice form that only crazy fucking people hear or as a dove or something. Trinity solved. Suck it Nicaea. :bong2:

See thats where i would have an issue with Lutherans then. If you read the new testament Jesus clearly states to his followers that they do this in REMEMBERANCE o his body and blood which he knew was about to be sacrificed. The crux of believng in Jesus aint whether you think hes a GOd or not. Its whether you believe he was here to die for others and i believe that.So in that regard hes more than a philosopher ,hes furthering some kind of cause in the name of someone else. Why sacrifice yourself in someone elses name?Poeple who not only might not give a shit but who will deny you? This is where the life story of Jesus grabs my attention fully. He didnt do shit for personal gain and thats what draws me in and tells me theres more to this than supersitious voodoo. To me its a story worth investigating for myself without being tainted by other religions versions or what they try tell people was the reason for this ,that and the next thing. But yeah enjoy the banter with you as always Lion. Still waiting on that standard of evidence though that differentiates why Jesus wasnt a real person and Pato was:razz3:

In all seriousness though do you think Jesus needs a different standard of evidence to validate he existed:ponder:

I'd have to insist you back that up with scriptuarl content and not any religions viewpoint though Lion. Cos it seems that only some religions think this and others dont. This is where i try figure out shit for myself. I dont see from my own understanding, how Jesus IS God AND the holy spirit. Why does he pray to himself then:ponder:

Because Plato actually wrote things down before he died and nothing was written about Jesus until around 100 years after his death? Jesus was one of MANY people claiming to be the "son of god," "sun god," whatever. His story just caught on and the others didn't. If it wasn't Jesus it would have been John the Baptizer, and even then some historians think they are the same person split for writing reasons.

If you want to go the route of "I never seen either of them," or whatever, that is fine. But, Plato wrote, was written about, was sculpted while alive, and had a cult of believers who wrote about him while alive.....unlike "jesus."

In fact, the only reason I think there was a man that we consider to be "jesus" is because there are Buddhists texts that refer to him. Buddhists were master historians at that point and time and still are.

Welcome to denominations and 2k years of debate over something so stupid as the "trinity" which isn't even necessary for the religion to begin with.

EXACTLY. Its not only not neccesary but it simply doesnt make sense. If your a GOD, a fucking G-O-D and your responsible for everything then WHY are you gonna send yourself in human form to a planet you have nearly wiped out several times due to iniquity?Dont make sense to me.If im a GOd and my whole gig is all about people accepting me and following me then im gonna send down my biggest follower as an example to people.I aint gonna send myself,it just dont make sense to me personally.Read the scriptural content and i strugle to even see where the Nicea council even got this idea from. If Jesus was God he would have told people to stop the confusion. If Jesus was God he wouldnt even have had to get baptised by John the baptist.Chew on that and you'll see where im coming from:beerchug:

    Is that English? :bong2:

Nicaea basically had to come up with a reason there was a burning bush, why the bible was the "lord's" words, and how Jesus was the son of man AND god.....so BAM trinity bullshit. That is what happens when you get a bunch of half-scholars into one room and ask them to all explain something the same way....."sure...sounds good...all three are god but separate...makes sense..."

Yah, I pretty much got bored once Hank didn't indulge and the gang bang became a circle jerk...But I would like some popcorn....

I also, while talking about Nicaea, had a flash back to my days when I was a religion major. Early Christian history. My professor was so old that he had a student grade the work. That student happened to be one of the long line of Yoders who grace Christianity with their presence for several generations now in NC. Yoders are also not popular. I was. This created a problem when grading my written work, more so since I was militantly anti-christian (more than now) at the time.

My sister went to the same school (older) and also was introduced to the Yoders. Of course she got the oldest boy and I got to be in the graces of the middle child.

I have no idea when I said that, and have no desire to go back and look, but yes, god seems like a lazy bastard. Well, I suppose he HAS to be a bastard if he had no father or creation.....so yeah....god is a bastard....
