Heard about mr astro and had to come by and say how much I liked him. I have moved mostly on to fb since I am about 95% of the time about dogs, and growing has taken a backseat to almost everything. Maybe I should come back more often, look what I missed. rest peacefully mr astro wow you were my age

WOW I can't believe it. I talked to him on the 19th he said he was feeling alittle tired & work was getting to him but he had stopped drinking. He was my friend we meet on GK we would trade seeds he lived 2 hours away but wouldn't think twice about hopping in his wagon & going on a road trip. If Craig liked you you were a friend for life. Christmas time he would send some of his special chocolate chip cookies. Even when he wasn't working & didn't have a pot to piss in he would give you the shrit off his back.He would call all the time & we would talk about GK or his Boys you couldn't get a word in he liked to talk. What makes me sad he was just gettig his shit together working & putting some money away so he could buy a house & turn it in to a Funeral Home. His Boys ment the world to him & GK was a big part of his life.I will miss him RIP Craig- Charlie

Very sorry to hear the bad news. He always seemed like a nice guy. For those of you who knew him, I'm sure your lives were enriched by him. RIP

He will be missed. I spoke with him briefly about a ailment we both had. I hope that did not cause his death. Seemed to be super cool guy.

Christmas time, shit wasnt rolling to good for me...emotionally i mean ,not financially. Happened to just be shooting the breeze with Astro, mentioned how its a "raw" time for me now. Next thing i know theres cookies at my door http://forum.growkind.com/showthread.php?t=45955&highlight=cookies . THAT was Astro. Beneath the "dont give a fuck" exterior.... he really did give a fuck ,about others! :bongin:

Craig was a good man, wore his heart on his sleeve type of guy. Didn't mince his feelings either. We spoke on the phone many times. He was usually shot out of a cannon, lol. His love for the ones he considered his family was great and very vast. I know for one this place was a type of savior for him in a way. Somewhere to go, someone to come and see. Ill genuinely miss reading his snarky and bold comments. We both shared a great love of our fellow Rottweilers, we sent pics and some videos of both our pups. We also both shared in our loses of pups as well, he had a huge heart for his boys and most anyone in general.

Ill miss you Mr.A....from my heart. :passsit:

I'm only a few hours north of him, and I always wanted to go down one weekend and spend some chill time with him, his fur kids, and perhaps Bud, if he'd come up too.

Soooo so happy his pups found a good home. One of my biggest worries in the world, if something happened to me. I'm sure it was his as well.

Fuck man, two in one year.

A true soul who didn't mince words or beat around the bush. MrA earned much respect at GK and gave much of himself to anybody or any thing he felt close too. The world is a much poorer place with his passing.

Wonder what the cop's thought when they walked into his garden? Gonna talk to my girls tonight. If I kick off in my sleep I want pics of my gardens at my memorial.

Craig..here's to an original, he weren't no copy that's for sure.

I keep coming back to this thread. Yup, a dude that told it just the way it was. Damn the consequences.

CC, that's the nicest thing I've ever read that you wrote.

App, to a tee. A great guy that somehow rubbed some the wrong way. I guess some people just can't handle an up front kind of guy.

Res, yeah, it makes you think. Hell, he was a youngster. I even asked my wife if she would be able to take care of my plants if something happened.

I was thinking the same thing.

The way He loved and cared about his boys,

says a lot about the kind of man he was.

In the time I knew him here. I saw more pics of the

    dogs then plants.

I contacted craigs mother per her request on fb. This is very personal but here is her reply on what happened to craig and the boys.

the photo is wonderful and we thank you for your kind words - we are devastated - he was a good and caring son - we are blessed to have a good family and many caring friends, but this is of course something parents never plan on or are good at 'doing' - it's just awful

he told me of you often as well as other long distance friends, but names weren't important and now I wish I knew better how to contact those who were so special to him

another blessing is that the boys are together only a few miles from us with a couple who knew and loved them and Craig and have a female and just lost their other old Rottie; they are doing well and their strict upbringing with Craig is now to their advantage - yesterday they had a fun swim in the Lehigh River up in Jim Thorpe with their new sister - they loved to swim in the canal in Lebanon, so we know they are loved and safe - Bully has even taken to sleeping with their teenage son

if you send me your mailing address, I'll send you info of the service - we buried him in a little country church cemetery on a hill next to my families farm where I grew up - 3 miles from our town and a beautiful spot

IF you happen to have a recording of his voice I would be most grateful to have a copy; he called us every day or nite, but who would think to save messages from when he'd miss us - I am heartsick to think I willl never hear him again or his laugh - your support is so appreciated and I pray for you also - he was very fond of you - blessings, Ruthann
