It's not nearly the same....we already pay WAY WAY more than you for health insurance. We already pay for the poor to have health insurance...we already give free health insurance to the elderly. Now we are forcing healthy young people to buy a product.....the vast majority of them don't have the money to pay for or they would have insurance already...and we are subsidizing this. That's the first part of the money being spent. Now when they go to the doctor and don't pay the bill (because now they think they have free health insurance) we have to pay the bills for that, even though we gave them a good start with the sub'd insurance. Also I have to add....ITS NOT FUCKING ANY CHEAPER!!!!!!!! you get shittier coverage for less money, to get anything remotely comparable to good coverage it's actually more expensive. It's a fucked system Then you get into the fraud and abuse. I don't know (I doubt you do have the same issues over there) but the size of medical fraud in this country? There is absolutely no oversight on this one....NONE..the dems even admit this is a problem but will get fixed. I for one am for a universal system with a flat tax....but I shouldn't be forced to give people more of my money (those who already have insurance "caddy plans" are paying more to support the new comers) and THEN still be on the hook if they don't pay. That is insanity....no way Everyone pays, everyone gets the same....because everyone is equal.
Oh yea and the best part is.... no one even has to buy it until then need it...just pay the $285 fine (family of four). That's like getting car insurance after you wrecked!!!!

Yeah, the government doesn't even know what's in it. All they know is that Obama wrote it up and their heads are so far up his ass, as is the main media outlets, that they approved it with out reading it because, well, just because they could. After some of them read it, they exempted themselves from it because, well, because it's good for you. Sure it is. It is soooo good for you that they want NO part of it for themselves. They still haven't even read it all. The thing is thousands of pages long and NOBODY thinks it will work or be less expensive then your paying now. If your working and have a half way decent pay, your coverage will go down and your premiums will go up as will your out of pocket expences. Sounds fair to me (by our governments point of view. Less $$ for you and more for them). Lion, where do you live? Our roads in the Northeast SUCK!! You need to replace you tierods at least every other year and a front end alinement every year, not to mention shocks and other wear and tear on our vehicles. So I would say that them taking care of our roads is a dud. Then we can toss in the state of our bridges. Many of them are deemed dangerous and falling apart. Yup. The governments doing a great job running these.
Obama didn't write the bill! Really!? I live in NC. Our roads are damn good. If you have ever been to another country, you would think our roads were paved with gold. No, they are not perfect, but we are the only country in the world with the road system like ours, not to mention the quality. It may not be good enough for you, but it is damn better than anywhere else.
It's not just me. Our roads are horrible. Pot holes everywhere. Frost heaves that send you airborne. Plates sticking up by the front and back of bridges. Bridges with holes in the road that you can see what's below you. Sometimes WAY below you. And (starting the sentence with a preposition. Naughty, naughty) we still have some roads that aren't paved and some are still cobblestone. I'm not saying other countries roads are better. I'm saying that they are not doing a good job maintaining ours.
We are the highest standard for roads in the world. Just because there not where you want them doesn't mean they aren't the best. This isn't Sim City, you can't just throw down roads because you can. We only have an aging infrastructure because we built it in the first place. Thanks to Obama, our already great roads in NC are being repaved, especially 40. If your state roads, which most of the unpaved ones would be (you do know the feds only do highways and the like right?), are not good then it isn't the feds problem. And it is at this point I have to remind everyone I am a Libertarian and not a Democrat or Republican.

Unions are against ACA because they are going to get taxed too or get benefits cut. Many many news stories on that as of late. They are in the same boat as I am, they already have great coverage and stand to lose it or pay out the ass for it. Don't get me wrong, I want others to have access too insurance also, I'm for a Canadian style system, or something along those lines, but I shouldn't be taxed because I signed a good contract. That's bullshit and not fair. Why the fuck should I work 80-90 (yes 80-90) hours EVERY WEEK!!! even on vacation I work, and the only reason I do it is because of my benefits. Now I'm losing those and it's not my company's fault. And it's debatable if Congress is exempt....they are the only ones the are allowed to receive Employer contributions and still buy from the exchange. Meaning they get sub'd healthcare, and then we pay for their out of pocket.
Roads in Japan are pretty good. I think LSB has a very good point. America has been seriously slacking on maintaining its infrastructure, as far as I understand it. Too much money is needed elsewhere to bomb cities and then rebuild them in foreign countries. If Obamacare is fucked up it's because the republicunts fought against it tooth and nail and because the insurance and medical companies have too much influence in Gov. The price of medical care being so ridiculously high is the main problem. Put in some kind of price caps, then get something like the UK or Canadian system going. Fuck the insurance companies and slap the price gouging health care field down.
ATM health care companies and all the aristocrat americans who depend on them to remain in Wonderland are fighting for their very existence against Obamacare. Don't really have a dog in this fight but, I will say, some of the disparities in prices I've seen so far, are WAY out of wack state to state, family to family. As I understood it, it's supposed to be based on a percentage of income and dependants. Minus tax credits if your under the poverty line (which frankly, is way to high to begin with). But so far as I've seen, talking to friends around the country, it ain't panning out that way....accounting wise. If I can ever get the website to work, I'm curious to see what it would cost me here in the south as opposed to my-ex in the north, given the same numbers.
:thumbs-up: I agree, just a little upset because I'm getting fucked by the law. I guess my biggest bitch is reading Congress exempted or what ever B4E wants to call it from the employer contribution. They said it would be a pay cut because it's factored into their pay...well I'm in the same fucking boat, and so are unions....And those sons of bitches work for us, not the other way around. For some reason it's wrong for them to lose $5-10k a year of their compensation, but little piss ass me can take it up the ass...I'm just a schmuck trying to earn a living. Fuck all the politicians I don't want to sound like I don't want people to have healthcare, around here we indigent tax on property, so we basically pay all the poors hospital bills....literally every dollar. I support that, I support having an equal system or universal system. I don't support however someone taking from me because they think I have too much. We are already talking about lower plans but the company is going to try and run a program like our eye/dental and have the company reimburse us because they say it will avoid the tax.
