Is it any major harm putting veg plants outside during the day then inside under T5's at night? I am trying to bulk/speed up a mother plant to get clones for winter run in doors.
the NUMBER ONE issue I have with moving anything from outside to inside is infestation - be it insects or spores When I get a new clone - it goes in quarentine and gets an azomax treatment before it goes into the clone house. While sun will give you best results - you have to weigh the risk
So other than bug or mold issues, no real worries about stressing plants this way. I figure a good 6-8 hrs of good hot as sun then back in the T-5 or maybe put the 400 mh back in the closet. I got a cood C99 and a Blue Berry and a Critical Kush going, if I can get three good moms blowed up in two months, the winter will be a good push for a new summer set up.
Ya the sun will definitely help make cloneable branches, the sun hits inner branches better thus making them faster to clone, keep them away from other flowers though. Spider mites love roses, thripes love geraniums and white flies like alot of annual flowers especially Gerber daisies.
if I am keeping the clones on a screened back porch well away from the flowers and shrubs in the yard, is it alot better, I guess my question is, will keeping them on the porch going to be good enough? I know the mites hitch hike.
A screen isn't going to be that much help. It's been done successfully, and unsuccessfully. I've done it with no major mishaps but there's always a fresh Hot Shot no pest strip hanging in the indoor garden. Kind of like playing with matches as a kid....most of the time no big deal. Then you get burned once.
I think i will bulk up the mother plants on the porch and take the clones straight to the garage for a couple of weeks to root and make sure they dont get bugs. Now that i think about it, by that time i could just flower them in there. I totally fucked up and dried out my off brand blueberry clones to keep as mothers. What a rookie move, been growing so long it was a chuckle before I slaped my self, so critical kush it is for the winter run while the c99 moms fill out inside. I am glad I learned to keep a back up going. Other wise I would still be crying.
