I saw this in my web surfing, and damn I want one! You can have your very own 'hobit hole' for $500,000. Now...off to buy a lottery ticket. Check out the website
Misti clart.....ewoks prefer 'little forest people'. Come on man....where's your political correctness?
Just think of the savings in duct tape and plastic. I still think it needs to go deeper.......MORE CONCRETE!!!!
i agree with pie. this is a home i would love to visit but not own. when you get one, herb, please send me an invitation to your housewarming party. k?
Sure will Mary....scratchin' my ticket now. I love holes and this is the perfect 'hole'. I could SO live in this house. I'm with Joint...it could go deeper for sure, but it just might. they talked about a 'secure room'. I imediately thought...'grow room'.
Too cute! I saw one once which had been dug into the hillside, carving out shelves, benches and work surfaces, sprayed the whole thing with some kind of cement. A few cushions and throws and you were all set! When we were young and still fearing The A-Bomb, we drew up plans for a simple little house which was really the disquise for the entrance to an underground storage/bunker/arsenal/quarters/bombshelter/ hidey-hole. Hard to deal with the whole living underground thing. We tried to work out ways to get sunlight and effective exhaust without revealing the apparatus. Did I mention we were suffering from a little paranoia? What do you expect for a generation raised on Howdey Doodey and Leave it to Beaver, yet enduring regular A-bomb drills at school and work, with bomb shelters in backyards and every public building? egsay's "It would be perfect if the door was round!"
HiC Awesome idea. We were trying to figure a series of mirrors and something else about submarine windowglass, but so long ago, I can't recall. Fiber optics...Yep. eg
Cool house Herb, wouldnt mind owning one. Now if it was self sufficient that be the house to own IMHO. Was watching Discovery channel a few months ago they had a house on that was completely self sufficient: solar panels with power storage units for those cloudy days took care of all electrical need, water filtration system that uses rain water pumped in through the roof for showers drinking and watering the plants, septic system that converts waste to usable fertilizer by filtering it through beds of plants out front and back. Thats our dream home, combine that with this secure home design and I'd say thats the perfect house.
Earthship and underground homes have alot of light! Most people think it's dark cause the earth is on the roof, but how many of you have windows in your roof? You also have overhangs with regular houses that don't affect light. Most underground homes have a southern face and therefore recieve light all day, all year. Just passing along a little knowledge folks! Skunk Ape
Yup....only half a mil. Now I need to go get my loan and get the crop going to pay the damn thing off.
