I don't post much partly because it takes me ages to do so. My kweyboarsd hasd bewwen screwed up for quite some time now. PLEASE! Someonwe tell mwe hoew to fix it. For some reason wehwen I hit "e", "d", or "c"; my comp typwe the ajacent letter like this "we "sd", or "xc". I xcan correct it aftwer I typwe, but it takwesd so sdamn long. Plweasdwe, xcomweonwe hwelp mwe. I havwe alrweasdy checked thwe kwey maps and bought 3 different kweyboards now to no avail.Maybwe I should just reformat my entire drive? Any answers ewoulsd be appreciated.
Most likely it is drivers or corrupt installation. Perhaps a previous PS/2 device or drivers is corrupting or interfering with proper installation and usage. I would suggest simply completely uninstalling any PS/2 device. (you are using ps/2 keyboards right?) if you are using USB or wireless you may want to check the USB port. But back on track, anyhow, I would make sure that no ps/2 devices are installed (keyboard) and then install your keyboard all over again. If this dont work, consider a simple reformat. If you can back up your data or are willing. I do reformat's monthly. But I have 4 drives. lol. you'll find its probably drivers. Go to control panel > system > device manager > and uninstall then reinstall any keyboards and ****. Hey what kind of keyboard and hookup? Brand and model would be good to help me in diagnosing. What operating system also are you on? (Edited by agrowguy at 5:01 pm on Sep. 28, 2004)
if that doesn't work try to borrow a keyboard from a different computer. keyboards are pretty easy to break or it could just be defective.
You stoners, he said QUOTE I havwe alrweasdy checked thwe kwey maps and bought 3 different kweyboards now to no avail JE, Are you on PC or MAC?
no ****, that had me crackin up. anyhow, yeah, simply reformatting will resolve your issue for sure. Its not your keyboard. It COULD however be your PS/2 ports or USB whatever you are using to connect these keyboards to your computer.
OK, back... I reformatted, didn't help. Using Windows XP Pro (Academic edition , if their is a difference) Did a BIOS update from Dell (didn't help). I can switch keyboards, I have 3 now. I switched and it has worked for about 6 hours now but the problem migrates to each individual keyboard after about a day, leading me to suspect something inside the comp; but why would it take time to migrate. Yes I have a PS/2 keyboard this one is a cheapy from micro innovations plus another from the same manufacturer in addition to the original Dell issued keyboard. Thanks for your suggestions so far, they are appreciated
"kweyboards" -- i was wondering what a kweyboard is. sorry, i know that must suck, JE. if you formatted your hard drive and installed a fresh copy of windows then i'd have to guess there's a ghost in your computer. that's awfully strange that 3 keyboards all do the same thing. have you tried cleaning the ps/2 connection in the back of your computer? office stores (and probably wal-mart) sell cans of air for cleaning out dust from your computer. however, i don't see any reason for there to be dust in the socket unless you unplug the keyboard often. it could just be a bug or driver incompatibililty with the academic version of xp.
WooHoo one whole day now and no sign yet of that ghost returning. :fingerscrossed: We'll see what happens tomorrow. Again, thanks for all the suggestions...something seems to have worked
Be gone keyboard ghost! Taketh your demon ass back to the deep dark bowels of hell...or i'll call somebody!
