This is the best deal I found, 250watt HPS light for 80$ will this do good enough for 9 plants from start to finish? if not i could buy this one now and buy another for flowering or something later.

Maybe^^^ Certainly not full size plants. Instead of buying a second light later why not just get a 400W hps now?

^^^ Hmm, nice 80 bucks. I thought these lights were so damn expensive, but 80 bucks for a 400watt with everything included is damn nice. Plus add another 40 bucks for an MH light, and you got yourself a nice 400 watt Marijuana growing machine for 120 bucks!!!!!

*Even though I might get a 250watt HPS with MH because I'm only looking to grow 1-2 plants at a time in a grow box, and the 400watt might give off too much heat. I'm looking to go with MH for vegging, and HPS for flowering for best results of potency and yield as my plants will be vegged, and flowered in the same grow box, and probably won't have much room.

i don't believe you can fit that many plants under even a 400w lamp. Not enough watts per square feet. IMO

Just today I took down my 400w MH and moved up to a 1000w HPS. Huge difference. I think I had $179.00 in my 400w MH, and it served me well throughout my first 5 grows, but I never tried 9 plants under it. If I flowered more than 3 at a time, only the top third of each one was good after 8-10 weeks. I usually had to whack the tops off and let the bottom two-thirds go another 10 days or so. I'm hoping to be able to maybe do six at the most at one time with the new 1000 watter. SOG, maybe 9, but not conventional style. I believe I'll keep the MH around for a small veg (unless I buy a conversion bulb for the new one). If you can only afford the 250w, then go with it, but 9 plants might be a stretch. Look around for a deal on at least a 400-600w and you'll be glad. Alternative Garden Supply is a good place to check out. They sell PL lighting and Sunsystems. Good luck.

is that super saver econo 400w system reliable or good value? Was looking into a new light, and wondering if that is a reliable one.

^^ Yeah I would like to know that too. Also for a grow of 3-4 plants max. would a 250watt suffice for a grow box? Like a cabinet or speaker box grow? I'm worried the 400watt might give off to much heat, and I don't want the box catching fire, lol.

Budful, check out MellowDoods setup. Look at the bottom of any of his post to find a link to his setup. He has three plants in a box using a 250hps. check it out for some ideas. But to answer your question, yes 250 can suffice.
