Is that some kind of deficiency if the tips of the hairs are turning orange so early its about 3 1/2 weeks into flowering RP og kush. Pretty much all organic. I don't see any other signs of stress or burn or anything. Two clones from the same mom, same organic nutes yet on one plant two buds are starting to slowly orange but no other buds from that plant or the other have orange hairs (except a couple preflowers that were on the plant since young clones). Info, suggestions, comments and tips all appreciated.
It's probably fine. Is it still growing normally and getting new white hairs on the buds in question? Unless the plant has started to slow it's growth drastically and all the buds begin to ripen early, then I would guess that it's just that strain's predetermined genetic growth pattern. My Master Kush strain starts showing a few orange hairs at about 4 weeks and stays like that until she starts to ripen fully at around 8 weeks. Hopefully this info is helpful. Good Luck!:thumbs-up: P.S. :-welcome-: to GK! P.S.S. Pics are always a helpful tool in helping us to be able to better help you. :thumbs-up: Edit: After reading in your other thread that you're using a compost tea and are looking for a suitable flowering nute mix, I am wondering if you are just a little high in Nitrogen and that may be why you are seeing hairs turning orange prematurely. Slightly high nitrogen during flowering will cause the buds to grow more slowly and I have noticed that it can cause the hairs to ripen prematurely.
@Rasganjah- Umm yea that high N could be a possibility. The last nute feeding was about 3 watering ago with 1/2 teaspoon fish emulsion 1teaspoon morbloom and 1tespoon molasses after that plain water after that compost tea( that was the last watering. But I find it kind of strange its only happening on just two buds on 1 plant. Good lookin RasB P.S Ras it is a kush strain OG.
@Alienbait- nope nope I'm all over these 2 plants, I've probably inspected every single bud site on them, especially the one that started doing it first, on the other bud its jus maybe 7 or 8 hairs that the very tips of the hairs are turning.
I have used Alaska Fish emulsion and morbloom for entire grows with great success as well as molasses without the compost teas. Check out my indoor grow thread or my photo gallery for pics of my plants and cured buds grown using only those nutes.
If you have a few bananas at the tips of the flowers they will fertilize the tops pf the cola and you just get a few seeds in the top of the buds. Possible, Had one do it a couple of years ago. Just be careful.
RP ogK? Never heard of that one. But then again, there is a new "OG" kush born every day. ROFL. What does RP stand for? Ras, I have never seen that myself. Too much N usually makes for some new growth, kinda foxtail looking. Never seen it turn the pistils brown though. When a pistil turns brown, it simply means that it no longer able to accept/receive pollen from a male. This can be from already being pollinated, or from damage or age. Have you rubbed the two buds trying to get a sniff? Maybe brushed with a shirt or jacket as you inspect the garden? Do you foliar spray? Too much can damage the pistils.
@Mr.GrenJeans- Yea I know what your talking about, those banana things. I had em on my outdoor crop of Blueberry Kush last year, but no its not that. imagine a bud that's just starting to mature, and how the tips start turning? Its just like that but I'm only just busting 3 weeks bloom. The buds have nowhere got to the size of a mature bud, just the very tips are turning orange. also I checked them at lights on today and now one the other plant has a bud that the tips are turning too! I'm wondering if its just the strains genetic maturing characteristics???? @Rasganjah- I'm looking through your threads now. You've got some fine females there homey! I hope they have no started to seed (but could be agood thing) I don't see bananas, I don't see seed pockets. Its just the tips of the hairs. And Ras wat its your feeding schedule for flowering with the ferts and molasses? Just curious, I've been doing 1 teaspoon morbloom 0-10-10 and Humboldt honey 0.45-0.25-1.8.
Just found the quote button... RP... Abbreviation for Reserve Privada ( I think that's how you spell it ) I'm pretty sure its hasn't been pollinated, I only had 2 female clones. I never seen ANY male parts on these two plants. When do the hairs usually start turning? What about week 5-6? Or maybe even an early week 4? And I don't want to make it seem like its happening throughout the entire plants its only on 2 buds on 1 plant and 1 bud on the other plant. But that's what's strange to me, if it was happening throughout the entire plants that would seem kinda normal. This is my first run with RS OGK (that's how the clones were labeled) so I'm not really familiar with this strain.
for flowering I mix my 5-1-1 fish emulsion at 1 tablespoon per gallon and I put in the 0-10-10 morbloom in at an equal measurement 1 tablespoon per gallon. I usually give the molasses mixed into plain water at 1 tablespoon per gallon. I give the nutes every 3rd watering or so from 1 week in until 2 weeks proir to harvest. I give the molasses in between watering with the nute mixture.
Forgot to answer your other questions Useless sorry, I have rubbed the leaves before to get a sniff before the trichs started to form but I stopped because I didn't want to break the trichs. But I have not foliar sprayed (that was another question I posted, "what is the latest to foliar feed?"). But I have not been in contact with any other plants nor do I have pets to bring in traveling pollen. I hope I have that answer your questions. Much appreciated Useless!
OK gotcha on the Reserva P. I will post some pics of different pistils turning for different reasons in a bit. Then you can compare to yours.
So have I been mixing this stuff wrong? My last 4 watering went as followed 1 tsp 5-1-1 1 tsp 0-10-10 & 3/4 tsp molasses watering 2: plain water watering 3: tea watering 4: 1 tsp 0-10-10 1 tsp molasses. And Ras around what week on your Master K did you start to see trich production and hair color change?? The reason I ask is because I believe Master K and OGK are in the same Genome right? Might have similar growth characteristics or something? I started noticing trich production around mid to late week 2 and now am starting to see hair color change in between week 3-4. I hoping this means a short flower time and super trich'd up buds!!!!
I wouldn't say wrong. Maybe a little on the weak side but you're using the tea as well so it may be just fine. If the plants look healthy and happy then you're doing it right. When using fish emulsions it's hard to burn the plants so I tend to mix a little strong and just go longer between feedings but you can stick with the weaker mix and feed every watering or every other watering if you want to. As for the OG Kush and Master Kush being related, I'm not and expert on marijuana genetics, Useless is the man to ask about that, but I don't think they are very closely related if at all. My Master Kush (I'm not even sure what breeder) is a classic short stocky wide leafed Kush plant that has that distinct "Kush" smell and flavor, most OG Kush strains I have had didn't really have much if any of the classic Kush traits. But I could be completely wrong here so don't take any of this as fact. I do have some supposed OG Kush plants going myself right now and they look and smell nothing like my Master Kush. I also have some Cotton Candy Kush that seems to be more of a Kush Hybrid with some Kush traits but not quite a True Kush strain.
Yea the OGK I have came from Reserva Privada so I'm guessing its original, but I can definitely see some Sativa gentic traits compared to a Blueberry Kush that is predominately Indica. I believe most Kush strains are predominately Indica. The OGK does has a very strong Kushie smell like a sorta sweet super danky very loud smell right now, its very similar to the Kush I buy from private dealers, you know that real kush. About what week did your Master K start producing trichs Ras???
