Maybe I'm just not taking the whole thing seriously enough, but I really don't understand the concern with lights.  I told my accomplice that we needed to get lights and the reply was, "That's how most people get busted!"  And others are concerned about light leakage (not just here, on other sites too).

So, if a hobbyist or a fairly vulnerable person goes for lights, what's wrong with 18/6?  Start them at 6 am, stop at 10 pm, doesn't look all that suspicious because a lot of people are up for those same hours, and it's more like the plant's natural state.  Okay, so I'm a tree hugger and like "natural".  Is the issue really yield?

I am not entirely sure I understand the question. Using an 18/6 cycle is fine for vegging a plant....then switch to 12/12 to flower. One thing that must be understood is proper lighting is a must. MJ uses a LOT of light as it is a very fast growing plant. The more light it has the more buds you get. The one thing you can't skimp on is the light for an indoor grow.

i am a little confused ..you say in your other post .you aready have 2/400 watt lights .....so what more do ya need ?

unless your talking about going to a hps (which is HIGHLY RECOMENDED)pls elabroate some .......as to your questions

first .you can grow this plant with just about any light ......sun .40watt.spot .mh.hpsand even flos ..the more lumens is what your after .if the plant doesnt have addiquite light it 'streches' looking fot it .and whae it flowers ,,,youll have exremly poor yeild ...

second.all plants need to have some type of down cycle to process the light to food .....18-6 light cycle is the best .....small babies and clones can take a 24 but i dont recomend it .

third.if your concernedso much already ,,,about someone busting you for buying just a light .....maybe this isnt a hobby for you to persue any further .......im not trying to discouage ya .its just that this IS ILLEGAL ...........

if you do decide to do it .....caution to the wind ......buy your light online at any light store .avoid the 'GROW 'shops and have fun man ...........or woman ,sorry lol

oh .....lighting indoors IS a very big concern ......put the plant somewhere else ....people will notice a glowing bookshelf .lol.......seal the windows good and youll be ok

Ah well I jumped in on another post and that must have been part the confusion.   I did not realize until yesterday how much the method of lighting affected the plants.  I myself have no lights, as of yet.  And I'm not at all worried about the lights giving anything away, there are lights on in my house for more than 18 hours/day.

KB, funny you should mention bookshelf, on my way to the computer I saw a set of shelves and considered modifying them.  But I probably won't now, LOL.

    Thank you for your help!
