Ok 2 questions.. 1 is when to cut up. yes i serched and found conflicting stories. Ive heard when 2/3 is amber then i heard wait 1 week from that point. wich is best, Is it true you will have a diff high from waiting? i would rather a better head high wichout the sleepy effect. 2nd ? im using hydroponic drip system. with 400watt switchable hid bAllast. my plants are growing 2 inches or more a day still 7 days into flowering and sucking up 1 gallon of water a day, were as during growth i was only going thru a gallon a week/ is this normal.. im running out of room in my closet thanks rivvers
Your plants are going to double in size when flowering and to check the color of your trichs you should use a 10$ radio shack microscope clear being weak,next clouldy, then amber being strong. There is a chart some where on this site . good luck
when to harvest is totally preference. yes, it is true there is a difference in the "high" in reference to the color of the trichomes. I would advise waiting until you see at least a few red trichs before you ever harvest. That's a sign that it at least mature enough to pick. Like any fruit, a lil extra time on the vine helps "enrich" things a bit. The more red trichs that you see the heavier/sleepier the buzz. If you want a heady more light buzz harvest when there are fewer red trichs. as to what percentage, you'll just have to figure out what you like.
If you wait till 2/3's of the trike's are amber, you'll be couch-locked. Watch out with how much water you think the plants are drinking. I would only water them if the top 2-4" of soil is dirt dry. I push my hand/fingers down as far as I can go w/o jamming the hell out of it, so that I can get a gooooooood feel for how the soil is beyond my FOV. If you overwater them, they'll seem to just stop growing, start drooping... Good luck bro, I remember my first grow ever: it was bad! bag seed, shitty tap water, left buds on till they nearly fell off. Then I did my first REAL grow with the help of these guys, and man'o'man do they know how to lead u thru the process all the way to the end. My buds were great, 3 plants one was beautiful, other had ugly buds from my own mistakes proly, and the other had medium quality looking buds, but the best smell after cure.. =) I hope you get better than that.

just another thought.... WORD.There are many differing opinions,i usually do look out for the 2 3rds amber before considering harvesting.As has been pointed out a microscope is better for telling when your trichs are ready than say a loupe for instance. As WAWONA says its all down to preference...do you want a more cerebral high,etc?Im not sure maybe someone can clarify this for me...i was always under the impression that curing also has a lot to do with what kind of stone you get from your plant?.(longer curing=more couchlock,etc?)I could be wrong but i always try to cure for as long as possible without losing any THC content for a 'heavier' stone.Peace
To answer you second question rivvers. Sounds like you have a healthy hydro drip set up going on. That is normal for your plants to grow that rapidly doing the hydroponic method. Next time you will know not to veg them as long and induce flowering sooner..
