(Like at night, when you are sleeping, not aspirational desires.)
I notice that when I smoke I very rarely dream or have dreams that I can remember. When I don't smoke I have a very interesting dream life that informs my sense of self on a number of levels. If I smoke consecutive days it usually takes a few smoke-free days to dream again.

I am curious if other people who are interested in dreams have noticed this and maybe found an herb or supplement to reverse the side-effect. Is this common? Any idea what might cause it?

    Interesting topic.

You nailed it - happens to me as well. I dream in full color usually, like I am right there unless I am smoking, then they disappear.

    Interesting topic.

When I am on any kind of opiate, I dream very vividly. As soon as a lay down i fall into a dream. They are very realistic and vivid. Sometimes they relate to an old memory I had supressed or an old friend that I have forgotten about. I have noticed that a lot of times I dream about an old friend or someone I have forgotten about or havent talked to in a while and a day or two later they call me or I run into them somewhere. This has happened numerous times to me. So when I dream about an old acquantance I can almost count on running into them in the near future. I discovered this a couple years ago.. Its pretty freaky, but it always happenes.

remembering your dreams is just a matter of when you wake up during what cycle, what you have done before you went to bed (drugs, alcohol, etc.), and how much sleep you have gotten.

I imagine marijuana affects not having dreams by making you sleep through more cycles than you would otherwise.

Im gonna sound nuts but fuck it. I have the most vivid dreams and if they are the really intense ones i can retell you a whole lot of it, including details of surroundings and moods. I always have weird dreams of, i dont even know how to put it because ghosts sounds corny, but like something paranormal. Ive had dreams feel so real when i wake up im still shook up. And i find this thread entertaining because i had one last night actually. There was a paranormal type thing going on in my house and i got fed up and starting running into the areas i felt it and was confronting it all crazy like, beating my fist on the door as i burst in, almost like i was trying to scare IT off But it keeps coming back and sending that "chills up your spine" feeling. I get them so often i dont really get bad dreams, im used the screwy ones so much now that when i wake up i laugh at how fucked up my head is! :qbluewacko:

The even weirder thing is after that strange dream woke me up, i went back to sleep cause i like that shit and i wanted back in, but i ended up having another dream my plants got snagged out of my backyard. Now you can even check my older posts, ill bet ive told this dream before cause i always have it when i grow in the summertime outside. So i see my plants are gone, all of a sudden im on the phone with my cousin who lives down the block asking if he seen anything, then my phone actually rang and woke me up, it was my aunt. No big deal except i look over at my clock and its 11:11am. (i see 11:11 way too much everywhere)

Just kinda two weird DREAM experiences in one night i could share with this thread. And it was just last night. I have em all the time. I wish i could explain them better.

Sorry for writing so much, im just really interested in dreams because mine are like a second life while im asleep. They're all too real sometimes. :icon_confused:

Yes, we all dream and every night it just depends on if you remember your dreams. I gotta say I hate the dreams when I'm back in high school and can't remember my locker combination and late to a test (oh that was soooo long ago). Sometimes I can get back to the dreams I like. Yes dreams can be so damn vivid that my wife has woke up and was pissed off as hell with me cause of her dream, I think I did somthin bad in her dream lol.

Yup, you and me both man :) i love dreaming. Lucid dreams are the best. i've only had two in my entire life, but its an insane feeling. (lucid dreaming is when you know you are dreaming and can go about actually controlling your dreams) One of the tips they give you to dream lucidly is to set your alarm earlier than usual, then get up for about 45min. then go back to sleep. (the wake-back-to-bed technique). It takes a while to actually experience one, but its definetly worth trying that technique. Thats when one of mine occured.

lol Dan I'm the same with my dreams, I have sorta regular ones where nothing really happens. But then I have some really fucked up dreams, I love them. First thing I tell my friends when I see them "Guys you gotta hear this dream I had, its fucking crazy!". I get what you mean about loving them though, I love em. I used to have this one fucked up as reoccurring dream that is pretty much unexplainable, but I wish I still had it but the feeling when I woke up was so crazy. It was this sorta dream where I'd be like floating in limbo surrounded by white, then all of a sudden everything would be dark and then the light and dark would sort of turn into this fuzzy tv kind of thing with me floating in the middle of it all. Crazy as stuff. Sometimes have these dreams that I like to call movie length haha cause when I wake I remember everything and so much has happened in the dream.
