There is also an apple orchard at the farm and with trimming i have no time to crank a handle for 40 min just to make 1.5 gal of cider so i took a day and built this grinder so i can just throw the apples in and let it grind. Anyway i just thought it was cool so i wanted to share. the drum in the bottom just has a bunch of stainless screws in rows to do the grinding. i just did a test run, the cider gets made in a much cleaner area.
I love building simplistic stuff. I got a garage and grow room full of it. Looks like it works pretty good. :goodjob:
Making apple butter this week, sure could use that thing! Images of Coen's "Fargo" keep flashing through the brain.
Got to use it today, its great. Me and my trimmers went out and picked apples, then i washed them with the power washer, ground them pressed 8 gal of cider cleaned up and powerwashed the press and grinder all in 2 hours, if i actually took 4 or 5 hours to do it i could probably get at least 40 gal. Last year it took hours just to make a few gal with the hand crank crusher.
Pretty cool. It's feels good to build something like that doesn't it. Now I want some cider, specially given the weather
