Buying a digital camera

Hey folks, considering buying a digi. I want one that'll show details like trychomes. There's an HP 3.2 megapixl, 3 x optical, 2.5 x didgital for $129, but I'm not sure if that's good enough. What features are important & not. I see some have that movie feature, I don't see a need for stuff like that? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

 

heya sticki, I have a Fuji Fine Pix camera. So far I am pleased for a digi cam. Nice clear pics. 6x optical zoom and a 3x digital zoom. Hope ya find what your looking for peace man.

 

Digital cameras are so cheap now. Get one that you can afford, with the features you see yourself using. Movies are a nice feature.


Make sure whatever you buy has a good battery recharger and a USB cord for uploading.

 

I don't know weather this will help or not but I heard from a reliable source that later this yr. major camera brands will introduce a new technology that will outdate everything on the market. Something like what plasma t.v.s do to regular ones. So what I would do is buy something just to get you by, then when the new tech. drops, you can get whats top of the line now really cheap. Who knows though. I could be wrong. Just something to look into.

 

if u get a camera w/o da movie feature, u can save sum money. u don't need the movie stuff.

 

hey stiki...if you're after really closeups, gotta' have the "Macros" feature. Look 'n compare, optical zoom is much better than digi-zoom. Movie feature is almost standard, with any of the better cameras, I believe.


Prices are cheaper almost everyday. My HP 620, 2.1mp, 3x optical,4 x digi. Cost me a tad over 200 bucks a little over a year ago.


I like the HP, if I can operate it, any monkey can...hee hee. Wish it had the macros thhough.

After reading your post....I can take good close ups! Never had any idea thats what that MACROS was before! Lost my instruction booklet in a move in 2001. I was thinkin I had an outdated Cam. But there is restored faith now...thx again!

 

HiC, that's the info I'm looking for. I'm hip to Macro, my camcorder has that. I don't see that feature mentioned in the ads though. A higher optical zoom seams to go with the more $$ models? I'm a procrastinator I hate buying something just to find it cheaper & better a month later.

..it may be featured on only higher end cam's too, stiki. I'm not sure. I am positive it is a feature, just might be expensive.

yep, I think you're right. Higher MP=higher$$ too.The way it was explained to me, optical zoom is actual magnification, while digital zoom is more an enhanced or computer generated maginification.

LOL, you can just about count on that happening I think. The technology is growin' in leaps and bounds.I did a quite a bito' research when I bought it. A camera with similar features, a year earlier, was runnin' $400. A year later, the HP you mentioned, is about 1/2, and a highr MP.
If you take many pictures, you will love a digi. ..click....click, take it home, plug it in, there they are! No high dollar "1-hr Photomat" or waitin' for days.
I do recommend a good picture editing software. Let's you do pretty much anything you want with your pics. I use adobe photoshop, but it is kinda expensive...and complicated. Took me a while to figure out the basics. I think mellow is educated to it.

Try focusing through your loupe for really tight closeups of triche's 'n such.

haven't looked at your latest choice yet, but I can say the HP has treated me pretty well, considering use 'n abuse it's taken. I have almost 3,000 pics taken with it in just over a year. I pack it around in a little padded case most all the time.

i really like the pentax optio s4 but i don't have any money for one right now


my mom got the pentax optio 555, which is incredible but 5mp isn't really necessary and is very very expensive.

Ahhh they do reel ya in. OK I had to get accy's, didn't wanna but ya know. I picked up 256mb card for $79 minus $25 rebate, then I got a carrying case, 4 rechargable batteries/charger & wall adaptor, a 16 mb card (that doesn't fit) for $9.99! Ya can't beat that with a schtick!


I'll be at day 50 tomorrow so I hope to be fuckin round widit soooon
