i was wondering if i could put my plants on 12/12 at 1ft tall (they are under 2 400wmh) and bring on the sexing so i could cull it down to the 2 or 3 i wanna keep and then put em back on the 16/8 to grow em alittle taller and then put them back on a 12/12 to start the budding process when they are 2ft or so? and then bud for 6 wks? im going for personal here i dont really need huge yeilds but i dont want small ones either.....? is that pheasable?ty for any feedback
What you should do is clone it. That way by the time you determined the sex, it has already grown atleast 1 foot.. Actually you would have to use one of the lights to find out the sex. 2 400W MH is too much watts per square foot. With one plant thats 4 square feet max. Put them on 18/6 for vegging not 16/8. Different strains need different lengths of flowering. Indicas take about 7-8 weeks to fully flower. Sativas take about 9-10 weeks average. Give them atleast 2 more weeks if you plan on budding them for 6 weeks. I think you should read up more. It doesnt sound like you got the basics covered.
lots of folks sex the plants and then put them back in veg. it is a bit stressful on the plant, but it works. Just be aware that when you put them into flower at 1 foot they are gonna stretch. then when you put them back into veg they will grow vertically more. then they will stretch again when you reflower them. also, You will have to bud more than 6 weeks.
yeah, what mrdope said!! if you're going to start to flower i'd at least take some clones from each. if it turns male toss it and the clones. if it's female keep on buddin'. and you got some young ones getting a good start. and pick a good healthy one for a mother. i just started flowering 2 plants and took at least 5 clones from each. along with a few more seeds i've started there should be another batch ready for the flower room. oh yeah, man you really need to get a hps bulb workin'. i'm pretty sure you're not going to see much sexing for a while without it. these other cats here can go into detail about the red spectrum and the hormone shit. but it's pretty much a given in everyones advice. peace, CG
I would definitly go with an 18/6 light schedule. Take clones and sex them under floros to tell you what sex your plants are. Pull all the males. Above all be patient with the time it takes for the plants to go from stage to stage. There are a few tricks here and there, but overall mother nature needs to take its course.
but how long will it take the clones to root enough to produce flowers. that process was used in a video someone here a GK suggested. the video was great!!! but that cat took clones early and sexed them first to see what the mother was. and if female saved them for mothers. took like 4 months before first buds. plenty of big healthy clones for the second crop which only 2 months. i need some bud as soon as reasonably possible. peace, CG
i don't understand that statement. you don't have to have red spectrum light to induce flowering. 12 hours of darkness will do the trick regardless of the day time light spectrum.

thanks for all the feed back, ya i found a ballast i could run a 150 hps on and now have that on my buds with the 2 other 400w mh i cannot find a conversion bulb everyone around here acts like im stupid for asking...so anyway i guess im not gonna spray the plants that are budding anymore??? so many opinions on here i respect them all ...i have done several hours of reading in many time frames and setups and there is just a sea of knowlege on here....i will keep reading and tryin lol the very first plant yielded only about .25 oz lol and it was very aiery bud no substance it looked nice and big but it was light...smoked well but i didnt flush soil or even let it cure right...i stuck it in the oven....but when i rolled it resin came out the end on the 2 hit...it was a good high...bad taste...im doing more things right this time and i hope will have better result...this one thats budding now already has much more than the last ...i just started that one hps bulb and have till the 1st of dec to bud so i hope they fill out alittle more with that and me no longer spraying them..well see...its my xmas wish...i have 6 that have been under the 800w of mh since they were 4 days old and they are about 1ft tall and as round as the 5 gallon bucket each of them are in...very bushy..hope to do it all right with these...time to close this book...tks
