Hey guys!! I haven't been around for awhile cause I got a new job and been working ungodly hours!! Anyways I'm looking for some suggestions. As some of you know I have this box http://www.growkind.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7268 I currently have my air exhausting out the top of the box, and I have a duct adapter similar to the one in the 5th picture from the bottom. I need to control the smell so I am looking for some suggestions on the best design that allows for good airflow. I tried BM's bucket minus the fan, with no luck. Thanks for the help!!:D

it would be awesome if there was a place to order a pre-made carbon scrubber online. i suck at building shit and wouldnt mind shelling out for the convenience.

Carbon gets very expensive. I'd reccommend an ionizer. Less cost to operate in the end.

The best designs though will always pull air thru the filter, not push it. Really, all you need is a good fan, some quilt batting, a whole lotta carbon pellets and a clothes hamper. You can have a good design built after about 50-60 bucks. That's already 1/2 the price of a decent ionizer, and you'll never have to change out heavy, expensive carbon pellets.

Bro, I dont want to sound like a dick. I know you are a new member , but an ionizer is crap. The whole point of it is to remove the smell, who cares how much it costs if it doesn't work. Spend the $$$ and get a good carbon filter. IMO its as important as the light!!

You're kidding right? If not try this website or any other decent grow site.

have to agree i'v been using an ionizer and it works ok but by no means covers it completely i had to get a fan and attach a activated carbon filter to the back via a trash bag and dowl rods for support since i was low on funds to get rid of the odor. and premade scrubber man i'm glad Army pointed this out you can by them multiple places and texas hydro is a great place used to do a lot of buisness there when i lived back home. Shit the gaspipe off of colins in arlington used to sell them i think the one off of maple in dallas still does as well.

It all depends on the size and scope of your garden. If you can deny that an ionizer will remove particles from the air for less cost than carbon, so be it. I've built more than one scrubber and they have their uses - I won't deny that. If you are a commercial grower, then yeah.. I'd use a scrubber. Ionizers just can't keep up with that kind of air volume for any practical cost. A closet grow.. A full size ionizer or 2. Whatever does the job. I've ran up to 3 in a small room and was happy with the result. You can also vent it to an attic.. or even better, a small contained enclosure for them so they have less air to cycle at once. You can even do a combo with a smaller scrubber and a full size ionizer or 2. Whatever works for less cost should always be your ultimate goal.

If you don't care about money.. then why grow at all, huh? Just buy it on the street.

yeah i would agree tha for a closet two inoziers should cover it up and i would have done that if i would have had more money to spare at the time, but the best ionizer i think is that one from sharper image.

BRO, I UNDERSTAND THE WHOLE DO WHAT WORKS FOR YOU THING, BUT YOU CAN HAVE 10 IONIZERS AND ITS STILL NOT GOING TO BE EFFECTIVE AS A PROPERLY SIZED FILTER AND CAN FAN. WETHER YOU'RE A COMMERCIAL GROWER WITH 500 PLANTS OR A SMALL CLOSET GROWER WITH 1 PLANT, SMELL IS A CONCERNE. I WONDER WHY THE BC BLOOM BOX AND OTHERS SIMILAR USE SCRUBBERS AND NOT IONIZERS AND THOSE ARE TINY GROWS!!!

THE KEY WORD THERE IS WORKS YOUR ULTIMATE GOAL IS TO GROW GOOD BUD AND NOT GET CAUGHT AM I RIGHT? WHY WOULD YOU SKIMP ON THAT?

CAN SOMEONE BACK ME UP HERE

WHO THE FUCK DOESN'T CARE ABOUT $$$ OF COURSE I DO BUT I DONT CARE TO GO TO PRISON
IF A HUNDRED IONIZERS MAKES YOU HAPPY THATS GREAT BUT DONT BE GIVING THAT SHIT OUT AS ADVICE!!!

I'm with Smarmey on this one. I have the Ionic breeze, and you cannot even categorize that thing as anything more than an unintentional ozone generator, and it still doesn't work like a scrubber. Not by a long shot.

I don't understand how it would be expected to work without the fan pulling the air through the carbon.

I agreen in the ionic breeze SFC. I have the bathroom ionic breeze and I don't see that it's that effective.

Well guys, this is what I went with...BM's design, just modified a little bit. Air is being exhausted out the top of my box into the bucket and there is a 250 cfm duct fan on the end of the bucket sucking air out. Hopefully there is no back pressure this time...What do you guys think?? BTW SFC, those WW and AKs are beauties!! :D

i was just saying i thought the Ionic breeze is the best one available thats what i have and i'm growing a cross of skunk#1Xbubblgum and i had to make my ghetto activated carbon filter boz fan set up which took the smeel away good, though the ionizer is better at removing a smoke smeel from the room than the grow stinch i'm not going to argue that the least bit other wise i wouldn't have had to make my other setup, ahh oh well but herbman i like that bucket scrubber, just curious though, is it consturcted like a muffler with vents to the carbon like a tube within the bucket or is that entire bucket full of carbon with just an input into the bucket and output?
