Since I've had foot surgery my hubby's been helping me with the ladies. He had the daunting task of emptying the reservoir. Well hubby thought his way outta doing this again. He went and bought a pump! A Flotec Tempest. It took 2 minutes to drain my 30gl res! Now I can take good care of the ladies. I'm able to do the work of changing the res myself with very little physical effort:cheesy: a 50ft hose attached to the sink and refilled the res...took all of 25 minutes!

    Pie,

Your effort and your hubbys thinking, makes the beginning of the automation. In this wierd world all you do is check things, make sure they are working and maybe actually trim the plants. Then you have to harvest and plant new clones.

Pretty much about all to it. In an ideal world!!

Seriously, some of the kit is reasonable, just program, plug it all together and off you go, or off it goes with out you!! If you know a gent called Allen Bradley, he can help!

well as i've said before i've got quite the logical skills and mechanical knowhow...i think this would work better:

get a swamp cooler pump hook that up to a timer for a sprinkler system that has a weekly or monthly schedule. put the pump in the res. then make a holder for a float valve(swamp cooler float valve would work best i think)then simply run a 3/8 inch copper line to ur growroom, into the res and hook the float valve onto it. then we use TDS controllers to controll the amount of chemicals in cooling tower water. just mix up your ferts really strong in a seperate tank/bucket or whatever, put the TDS controllers pump in that container with it's discharge in the reservoir. then it would be totally automated.

sprinkler timer turns on the pump, which drains the res. float valve starts filling with fresh water. TDS controller automatically adjusts nutrient content.

i would assume you'd have a heater already installed in the res.

thats my 2 cents...im no hydro pro...although i'd like to be
