That's some crazy ****. I don't have anything against Chinese, Japanese, Americans, whatever etc.... it all boils down to governments and policies.

as far as china goes, I very much dislike buying anything made there, because of government, human rights, child labor, wages, standard of living.  Whenever we buy something from China this is what we are supporting and plus a very large portion is going to military, what we are doing is supporting our own destruction, unfortunately products from China are absolutely everywhere and seemingly impossible to avoid.  If the item was not made in china then the bloody parts were.  In many cases I'll buy something, open it up and find the "made in china" label, I'm not rich so I'll keep it and scrub the label off in disgust try to do better next time.

I do understand that trade with countries can be very beneficial in most cases, I think I understand the dynamics. Supporting countries with trade in many cases helps get rid of the many things I dislike in my examples above about China.

Canada does export to China more than what is imported but recently China threatened trade sanctions because of a comment made by a politician and the pressure Canada tries to impose on the Chinese Human rights record.  Of course Canada is not a very populous country and exports to China are very significant.  I would like for Canada just to say, "**** you" but of course it is not that simple when many countries live in the moment and politicians try to balance the economy and peoples livelihood.

The only thing we as a people can do is not buy product from China.

Exactly. We also need to be cognizant of their military ability's. Here in the western world we are in real danger if we continue to ignore them.

Hu Visits Canada for First State Visit

    By BETH DUFF-BROWN, AP ONLINE

TORONTO (AP) - Chinese President Hu Jintao visits Canada this week, at a time when Beijing is boosting investments in Canadian oil and natural resources, and Washington and Ottawa continue to snipe over lumber tariffs.

Hu arrives in Canada on Thursday for his first state visit, celebrating 35 years of diplomatic ties and rapidly expanding trade and energy agreements with Canada.

China is Canada's second-largest trading partner, after the United States, and Ottawa and Beijing conducted some $30 billion worth of trade last year. With the world's fastest growing economy and rapid urbanization, the Chinese are hungry for more oil and natural resources - and Canada has those, in abundance.

Washington will closely eye the official visit, which includes meetings with Prime Minister Paul Martin and federal, provincial and business leaders in Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver. Hu was supposed to meet President Bush at the White House next week, but postponed the visit after Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Gulf Coast.

The United States relies on Canada for some 17 percent of its oil and energy and is well aware that China is boosting investments in Canadian oil and natural resources. At the same time, Washington and Ottawa, the world's largest trading partners, continue to snipe over lumber tariffs and question each other's long-term defense policies.

``What I worry about is that the United States is making it easy for China; that in one way or another the United States is screwing up in its relationship with Canada,'' said Richard C. Bush, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington.

``And that makes it very easy for Hu Jintao to walk in and say, `Hi, I'm from China and we want to be your friend. And by the way, I want to buy your oil and your minerals and let's not worry about your neighbor next door. We've both got problems with them, so let's talk.'''

Vice President Dick Cheney's national energy policy report in 2001 noted the importance of Canada's oil sands to U.S. energy security. But while Americans blocked a bid by China to buy Unocal Corp., claiming it could threaten U.S. national security, Canadians support potential oil deals with China.

The state-controlled China National Petroleum Corp. announced last month it would pay $4.2 billion for Canada-based PetroKazakhstan Inc. In April, CNOOC bought nearly 17 percent of Calgary-based MEG Energy Corp.

Martin, meanwhile, is hosting Hu at a state banquet in Ottawa on Thursday. Hu will also attend a banquet and give a speech at the Canada China Business Council in Toronto on Saturday and visit Niagara Falls on a personal visit.

Hu then heads to Mexico on Sunday. He intends to meet with President Bush on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly in New York next week before returning to Vancouver Sept. 16 for two days of meetings and another banquet hosted by Martin.

I'm at a loss.. I don't know what little old me can do... we all live in North "America" we are Americans.... I talk to people and voice my thoughts.... but my words I'm afraid are falling on deaf ears.. At least I see on the news the our Prime Minister Challenged again the human rights issue with china in a meeting with the chinese president.. but really... this seems "interesting" because if they fix the human rights issues in china that will make us trade even more..... more money for china. more resources... means more opportunity for china to F us up..... U know although I'm a registered Expert which is two levels above a marksman and one level above a sharpshooter I have never personally owned a rifle and never really thought about it.  Seeing the breakdown in N.O. which worries me; as far as a "foreign" strike against north america and the possible chaos that could follow makes me want to buy a rifle to protect me from both an invader and our own people in our countries...... mmmmm .. that is very disturbing to me... WTF what can I do.... I'm really at a loss here...

Calm Down Fellas. They are not going to take us that easy. Not to mention as good of an idea as a biological attack is , here in the west disease has a much harder time spreading because we all live in seperate family homes, well not all , but the majority. Therefore we can self quarantine easily. Plus we are armed to the teeth here in the US, and there are still plenty of guns in Canada, and Australia. Sleep well my friends.

I dont believe china has the ability YET to try and take over N. America. But they will in matter of time.

Although their annual oil imports increase 30% a year and they are raising spending every year on military....they are still a long ways out from enough power for an American invasion.

I believe there will be a cold war again....only china will me the main factor. We will win that one too....we will outspend them like we did russia. The chinese will break the bank trying to keep up with us.

But in the event of a chinese invasion.....they better eat their fuckin wheaties....the yellow fucks dont stand a chance on our soil.

Man this really DOES worry me, even 5-8 years ahead.. I cannot guarantee I can get out of this country by then, and even then I will ultimately be leaving people behind which is almost too much to take. We have to stop this **** before it starts, I really hope that the US Government knows ALL about this because if they don't we're in a heap of **** my friend. Chinese century??? **** THAT!!! The closest I wanna come to a chinese century is be fuckin 'chinked' every day for the next century. Is there anything actually being done?? And how do we know 100% for sure that this article is legit? This is a really scary situation, I mean.. Do you want to die in 5-8 years? Most of us younger guys would realy like to live another..ohh.. 70 years or so.

Here is a thought to ponder fellas. 12-13 years ago when hacking was just getting going the CIA,FBI,and secret Service activellly recruited these hackers and have ever since here is that connection. The Chinese either stole,or were given alot of US technology which they have built there military machine around. Do you think it is possible we are rope a dopeing China just like we did to russia? We have spent alot of money on electronic counter measures, I only hope it is enough. Like Tibs said though we will win. I hope they have realised how futile a super flu really is. Unlike The Stand, it will not be that easy. Like I have said before Americans, and Canadians can self quarantine probably more efectively than any country in the world.
