Webby is sole owner of Gk and it's sub forums. Nothing can save your anonymity if CISPA goes into effect. In truth, very little can save your anonymity now if you are a person of interest. What CISPA does is relieve the legal burden of warrants or judicial request for internet use records. Under CISPA, providers and internet based companies would be able to openly share user information with NSA (and presumably every other government agency due to info sharing in place from the Homeland Security Act) and other corporations without risk of liability. My hope is if Obama doesn't veto it that the ACLU will bring a Supreme Court challenge delaying enactment. With CISPA there is little to nothing a site like GK can do to fully ensure privacy since personal use info can be gleaned directly from each users' ISP. That be my read on it anyway.
Although I don't agree with passing CISPA, I'm not at all worried of the Fed Govt. seeing I grow a few plants.

What applied before security wise will still apply with this bill: If they are looking at your information on a site like ours, with or without a warrant, then you already fucked up and they know you grow/sale/whatever. It isn't like all the information on the internet will automatically show up in a government database, doesn't work that way. Considering past cases, the courts will drop this shit in a second. Also, if you are that worried about it use a false proxy and cover up your tracks.
Have you not read the bill?? You don't need to be under investigation, they just say we want x,y,z and you have to comply. And yes it does work that way.....haven't you watched the news the past week? The feds went through a freeze frame of ALL activity 48 prior and 48 after the bombing. Granted it's mostly scanning looking for key words and phrases but since this bill does not have limits on what they can look at and for....you have to be a moron of monumental proportion to think the DEA isn't going to use this. About the courts dropping it...yea that worked with the Pat Act didn't it...:good job: Proxies aren't exempt....you think terrorists use their home internet?
Get a programer to write you up a ghost drive. It might be the same as a proxy, I don't know. It bounces your IP address every 10 seconds or something like that, at least that's what my buddy told me. But in the grand scheme of things, if you're that paranoid about it, there's only 1 real thing you can do.
I did read the bill. But if they are looking at your information, they already know you grow, with or without a warrant. There is no more or less safety for those of us in non-legal states. And no, it DOES NOT work that way. The amount of man power, servers, and hard drives alone would prevent the government from mining EVERY site for EVERY person doing something wrong. I don't agree with the bill, and it probably wouldn't last two seconds in the courts, but freaking out about it won't change anything. If they caught growers because of the internet, no one would be on a site like this. They already could do it with or without this bill. This comes up like every six months either because of a noob or a new bill being considered in congress. Our's and other sites like ours are growing in membership, not losing them. 99.9% of people do not get busted because of the internet, but because of local police and their own stupidity.
AND the patriot act actually strengthened the requirements for warrants when it comes to websites. It actually helped us and put us under the same laws as wire taping.
Not shitting bricks here. It is what it is and until proven otherwise I'm going to assume MJ sites are low on the list of priorities. How the Homeland Security Act plays into it is the info sharing created for government agencies. With CISPA directing access to NSA the assumption must be made that ALL intelligence/enforcement branches will have access to the same information to do with as they please. That seems to be one of the big issues the ACLU is highlighting. Proxie skipping is good for cursory checks...but there's always a trail that can be followed when correlating net use from ISP providers. I'd actually figure that would become a possible flag if CISPA goes into effect.
Our servers aint from USA last time i checked... Its woorth pointing out that GK dont use USA servers,last time i checked it was australian tho i may be outdated. In the UK recently pirate bay and kickasstorrents piracy sites got their isp's banned by the high court in london but all the sites have done is set up same sites with proxy in front o them meaning people from UK can still use them. TBH weed is low on the eds radar but i get your point nippie and its summit we can look into. Theres bigger and more unlegit sites than us out there but yeah safety is paramount. We can make the site a proxy site where every member logs in and the roxy is automatic but its time and money and until this site starts paying for itself and having more content then i dont see webby changing it. Webby owns it outright. He has various business intrests in and outide of the MJ world and he has staff working for him.In fact we have one of his staff working on GK right now hence the pics issues and other things being sorted.Webby is very savvy and i dare say if theres a risk he will do his best to eliminate it. I use a piracy site called kickasstorrents.com then it was kat.ph but the UK govt just got every ISP in the UK to ban the site just like pirate bay but they simply made their site a proxy site,almost like a mobile site as opposed to a full one. I had no idea they could work round it like that much to my delight.I was just curious as to whether you knew how to do such things or maybe just things you know of from othrs?
