I recieved a white widow clone from a friend. It was about 3" tall and looked like a crystal covered bud in a peat pot. I planted it outside in late May and for about a month it stayed the same. Since then it has been growing and is now about 8" tall and has several leaves and looks healthy. We are at 14 hours of light (sunrise 5:41, sunset 8:23) and there is still a little time for growth. My question is this.... What happens when you plant a clone already in the flowering stage?
It'll just revert to the veg stage if the plant senses it isn't time to flower yet. There's not much difference between 14:10 light and 12:12 light, and the light is going to continue to dwindle down to 12:12 with every passing day, so it's possible the plant may continue to flower. It sounds like when you first planted it in May it could have been a little root bound or deep into flowering. Were there a lot of roots growing out the sides of the peat pot? Next time if you see that, you may want to score the sides of the pot with a knife before you plant it. You see, plants can grow so many roots that they literally choke out all space for new root growth (called root bound), which prevents them from adding on more vegetation. That, or the plant was in shock from being transplanted outside when it was flowering.
Honestly, I believe it was both... root bound and deep into flowering. I took it out of the peat pot and did not plant the pot with it. More than half the pistils had turned color. It was all I could do not to smoke it! That was late May... so it might not revert now but it was in the ground 2 months ago. There are no pistils in the new growth. checking the nodes but so far it looks to be back to veggie? The plant will be at least 12" if not bigger by the time it is late enough in the season to flower so do you think it will just flower again? It has been VERY rainy here and it has been a slow grow of it.
The clone was in the flowering stage when you planted it. Thats why it did not do anything for a while it was reverting to the veg stage. Thats where you are now.(new growth) It will continue to grow until mother nature turns it to the flowering stage.
in that case, then yes....she will start flowering again as soon as the days are short enough....probably with some bananas
