Anyone else sell clones to dispensaries? Lately I have been kinda "blah" about growing. I hate trimming, I have sucky lights (semi sucky I guess, 250 MH and 70 HPS plus a little more, but no 400HPS or more which is what I really need), I like variety (every week I want something new and great from the dispensary) and I have a favorite dispensary that will give me $8 for newly rooted and $15-20+ for larger plants. I have a really big and bushy easy cloner Pure Kush I got from the same dispensary, I have smoked what she produces and it is top notch. In fact, right after I got it one of the employees said he was hoping no one would buy it because it was real good, I told him I could do cuttings for him... I was going to throw her into flower tonight but I just talked to a few people who have been selling clones to clubs and I have seen their reciepts. It's eaaaaaassssy money. I don't have to buy anything but more jiffy pellets (cheap) and plastic cups. I am not working at least for a little while, mono, and even with work I need more money. I think I am instead going to cut her up tonight to sell my first real load of clones to a dispensary/collective/club whatever you want to call it. I have great success with cloning and she has a good 20 cuttings at least and would have 20 more next week. Someone told me something changed and everyone in CA with a card has no plant limit or it's 99 or something? I don't know about that. I will try and find out but if anyone knows it makes a difference. If my limit is what I think it is (12 immature plants or 6 adults) I am just going to grow them a little larger and sell them for around $20. They will still qualify as juveniles though. But if my limit is way higher then I have about 20 or more cuttings I can do tonight and have them sold next week...... Anyone else do this or know the laws of CA better than I do? At least it used to be county by county and some counties you can't grow at all still and many counties (like mine which is Placer county) go by the statewide numbers of 6 adults/12 juvenile plants...
In Oregon it's non profit. We can make as much money as we put into it. All of my weed is free to others. I might pay 1-5 dollars an oz., depending if it is indoor or outdoor. Probably not that much. So I give it away. Good karma, I guess. I'm sure there are people who make money. I'm nervous enough. It's not worth the stress to me. What the hell, I get free clones, and the state leaves me alone. What more do I want? peace G_B
I look at it this way. The dispensary is not going to stop selling clones. And out of the people who sell them to the dispensary, i'm probly like the least low-balling kind of person there is. And when this dispensary (Grass in Sacramento) gets a good price they pass it on to their customers (which is why I can often get killer 8ths for $35 there and it's 3.8+ grams and other places the same would be $60) I have never sold weed or a clone to an individual. I have given A LOT of weed away over the years. Way more than I have been given freely. I trade seeds and clones occasionally as well. And I give people cuttings all the time. But, I need money. This is legal. I don't feel i'm really shafting anyone by selling clones to the club at a fair price...? Yanno? Anyways...... :bong-2: :flyy:
I don't even know measure 74, enlighten me or I can just look it up I guess :thumbs-up: Oh and I just called the police station, they don't even know.....sheesh! How can no one in the police station know the limit laws for their own county/town?!? Ridiculous I think!
it pisses me off when on one side of this country you can grow smoke buy and sell at pretty much your leisure, but on the other side 20gs lands you a felony and probable jail time god i hope its legalized soon
I know talltrees. I hope so too. I do feel bad for all you guys and especially anyone in jail for it.
Don't get me wrong. I'm all for fair wages. You work, you deserve to receive a fair wage. But in my position, it's more like a donation from me. I have all I need, and I don't put all that much into a grow, anyway. I deal with a non profit organization. I receive free clones, so why not. If you look at it, it's a dream come true. You go girl. Make it while you can. I think weed will be easier to get as time goes on. peace. G_B

Since I don't put all that much into clones, I would be selling them at a 95% profit margian. But the thing is. It's not really about the legality or how much money/time I put in as much as it is purely the risk of growing itself. I live by myself on the bottom floor and made the mistake of telling someone who is a bitch that I grew. Well, I didn't tell her, she lived next door and my damn closet was opened by my cat and the other damn cat was sitting in the blinds! I swear, it's a kitty conspiracy..... Anyways, I know like 50% of my neighbors grow too, but the risk of being robbed is always there. I would love to have clones all over the house and outside and plants outside and actually grow my limit (only reason I don't is lack of light inside and people will steal them outside unless I lock them up and unfortunately that wrought iron cage is being used by my birds this season). If I did that and there was no risk I couldn't see justifying selling it for more than what it cost to grow it. But, I live in daily fear of robbery. My parents were robbed recently in an even nicer area (I mean their house is worth $400,000 still). I am in a pleasant complex, not the best there is but still quiet ect, but in a nice town and the police station is across the street. But, at any moment I feel I could be broken in on and shot. I have dreams of that scenario all the time. I actually am considering buying a gun which is something I never wanted to touch. (my mom hates the idea, tho she owns one herself, she just knows I am compulsive but doesn't know that oh my god of course I am not going to be compulsive about anything having to do with a gun....) So basically. All I needed to write was that I justify $8 a clone with the fact that I feel growing as a single woman living alone is a possible life threatening behavior. Lets hope, well of course now I have to knock on wood, that my luck continues!
I do feel for you people that are persecuted for your way of life. I'm over 50, I know what your going through. It's been a long fight for our freedom of choice, good medicine. Give it time. The east coast does have Maine. Or you can move out west.:alienwink: peace G_B
No disrespect taken. I was actually hoping you weren't taking anything I said like you thought I thought you were being disrespectful or something! Damn internet :thumbs-up: They said $8, knowing me i'll go $7 because thats how I roll really That is, if the limit went up. If not I plan to grow them to nice tight node bushes, around 5 nodes, and go about $15-$18 if thats what size plant they mean. This is all new to me...So I think I could pull 12 "juvenile but bigger than clone" plants a week, give or take depending on how I get this down while staying within my limit, at that price and make an extra $200 per week. I think they do some kind of special deal (lower priced weed) with their vendors (so that would be me), and I would buy an 8th a week like I like and end up with maybe $175 a week more than I had before. Sounds good to me and I don't have to trim and I get to taste the rainbow of strains
Canna, If your going to start selling clones for profit, you may want to check local laws concerning the bussniess. The shop your selling to may have to keep records showing where there supply comes from. If your going to make money selling clones, somebody is going to want to collect taxes from you. Peace....
Hmm interesting. Yes I will start out asking the dispensary about that. I know they pay taxes...I wonder how that works out. I mean, I believe we need taxes for many things and I don't mind paying what's due if I make some kind of actual money from this. I am looking for a way to supplement my income with weed, by the books and at a lower price than the more selfish clubs I have been too. Oh and I am all in because I just made 10 clones. I still have the mother full of more cuttings to take and another plant (why I only took 10 tonight) and tho a lot of people around here would say I am being a little more uptight than I may need to be about comp to the law, I have no record and everything to lose so I take no chances anymore. Things have been looking up and when life gets a little better you wanna do everything you can to continue the trend :thumbs-up:
SB 420 is the bill that states the limits of plants and medication that a patient in CA is allowed to possess. The 8 ounces of dried medication and 12 immature and 6 mature plants limitations per individual patient were struck down earlier this year in a CA Supreme court case involving a patient that was caught with more than the recommended amount of plants and medication. The judge ruled that the limitations set forth in SB 420 are unconstitutional saying that an individual patient can grow whatever amount is necessary for the treatment of their condition and the charges against the patient were dropped. In SB 420 it also says for any collective grow that you are allowed up to 99 plants. NORML still suggests that unless you are prepared to defend a felony court case, it is wise to try and stay within these limitations until the bill is actually repealed. For what you want to do it should be fine. A dispensary should have paperwork that you can sign and keep a copy at your home saying that you are a part of their collective garden growing clones for other patients within the collective to be distributed by the dispensary. The dispensary will be responsible for paying taxes on the sales of those clones to other patients but you should receive receipts for your transactions and that income depending on how much it is at the end of the year may be taxable income and you may need to pay income tax on that money to the state.
Do you need a business license and/or a wholeseller's license to supply clones to the collective? Will they give you a 1099 at the end of the year? Also, can you belong to more than one collective?
Excellent questions and answers both of you. See I can always count on all you guys to help me cover my bases. 10 Clones are planted! I'll look into all that stuff about raising my limit/becoming official vendor for the club and these guys will most likely just be sold as larger plants. Whats cool now is that I have wonderful veg lighting (more than 300 watts of MH along with added red spectrum and a 70HPS and more space than my old apartment). I have seen even larger plants for sale at the dispensary as well, I think Juvenile just means budless, right? I wonder what those go for. With the rate things have been vegging for me in hempy since I switched to Lucas formula (sorry useless, I just didn't feel like going with the more complicated one, I go with a somewhat measured version of The Lucas which is already simple, i'm lazy!) I could look into selling larger plants. I see those for sale on Craigslist. Ras you are more knowledgable than me on the laws. Is it legal for me to sell a plant to another prop 215er I meet on craigslist or somewhere else at all? And how about without making a record of it? What happens if I got caught? Just if you know......thanks dude! I trade all the time. I don't really know if it's legal but we always show eachother our cards.....is that legal?
I don't know everything but I try to stay as up date as possible, plus I am involved in trying to open a collective with a partner right now. Prop 215 says that all sale of Medical Marijuana is prohibited, so no it would technically not be legal, however nothing is said about making a donation to compensate for time and labor to produce said plant or medical marijuana. This is where it's a little bit convoluted, Sale is prohibited so that is why collectives are Not For Profit Corporations, yet the state board of equalization requires all collectives to acquire a sellers permit and tax ID # and to pay sales tax on all transactions for medical marijuana. So in essence they are in conflict. Trades should be fine as long as it's with another medical marijuana recommendation holder. I don't believe it's necessary to keep records for trades, but it's a good idea if you don't know the person well to verify their recommendation through calling their doctor for verification. If you are going to do something like advertise on Craigslist I would definitely recommend keeping records of donations or trades and always verify every patient, but you would be smart to just stick with selling them to the dispensary IMO.
