So the Girl n I are still dead set on moving to Colorado within the next year or two at the most. So how is life out there in the mountains? RKY? JOE? Anyone else thats from Colorado? My soon to be wife really wants to move there and has this little dream about owning her own Soup kitchen. You guys love soup? N im naturally good at construction, so along with my 2 buds that are planning on movin with me hopefully ill be able to bring my construction biz with me. Its gonna be one of the biggest steps we take to try and give our two girls the best life they can have. I remember sayin when i was like 15 that ill have my own house and buisness before im 25. Well i got my house when i was 20, and right now im 24 and ive owned my buisness for about a year now. And no daddy dint buy me none of this, i was raised in a house were we lived off of $35k a year, n got nothin unless we earned it. My Pops died when i was 17 but left me alot of know how in the construction feild, and i just naturally have the ambition to push my self to do better always.

So yeah thats my next goal, To be wanderin thru the mountains within 2 years! Think i can do it? I guess we will see huh.......

Colorado is worth moving to, I wish we could do it as well!

As far as the construction area, it's pretty sketchy - hit and miss. Mr. Thumb has a lot of background in that area - cabins, finish carprentry, etc, and it's made it hard for him to find any work in that field. Work has really dried up in a lot of places - I'd recommend scoping a few areas out first.

I personally like north/northwest of Denver - Ft. Collins, Golden, etc.

    Good luck! :thumbs-up:

Colorado is a beautiful place but too cold for my tastes. Out here in California it's nice and warm, and the best part, if you have your own construction business you can make bank out here...even in a crappy economy. I know because I'm doing that very thing now.

To the tune of "Green Acres"

Colorado is the place for me.

Mountain livin' is the life for me.

Weed spreadin' out so far and wide

Keep Prohibition, just give me that countryside.

High Country is where I'd rather stay.

I get high toking hippie hay.

I just adore a greenhouse view.

Dah-ling I think you should grow me some Afgoo.

The wife and I moved out to Colorado a little over two years ago and wouldn't dare look back. We love most everthing about this state. The mountains are a blast and the weather, at least around Denver is pretty reasonable. Wed and Thurs are supposed to be 60 degrees and last week we almost hit 75 in the city. There is, of course the random snow fall, sometimes in the feet, but its gone so quick. Too dry out here and all the beautiful sunshine we get probably helps. I am also in construction, mostly seamless gutters, and I have stayed busy enough to support my wife and baby boy. If you want it you can have it out here. Hurry up and move before you get to comfortable where your at.

  9. Every now I get up to Vermont for work. Quite a few places are "green friendly" and there is a soup shop ran by some cool people called "Smokin' bowls". Such an awesome name. A few miles down the road there is another spot named "Smokin' J's BBQ". I hate to mention copying ones style, but it seems to me a similarly named place near one of the big pot towns in CO could do a fairly good job

The mrs and I sure are sick of the Rat Race here in Southern Cali. We've thought about moving out to Colorado but I don't think either one of us could be that far from the coast. She was born on a tropical island and I was born and raised going to the San Diego Beaches. Northern Cali has a draw for us though. More laid back and slower paced, even more ganja friendly than Southern Cali. I personally want to move up to our local mountains. I spent much of my youth camping and fishing up there, It's not the Rockies but they do get snow in the winter and it's true Mtn. Living, small town up there where everyone knows each other, very tolerant and open minded folks that just want to live away from all the hustle and bustle of the cities. Once my inheritance from my Grandma is mine (the small mobile home and land it's on) are mine I want to either rent out my place and move to the mountain or sell my place and buy a place in the Mtns. outright. I have to either keep this place (it's all paid for and owned outright) or sell it for enough to buy another place outright.

We all have our dreams Boa, where we want to make our life. I hope you achieve yours sooner rather than later. Good Luck to you and your family in achieving your dreams. :thumbs-up:
