I have a bunch of these small compact florecent bubs. I was wondering if they could be used to start a pack of ten outdoor seeds in a rubbermade bin. How many would I need to use. -the lable reads Helical 14w 120vac 60Hz 230mA FLE14HLX2/SW W264
All of them if you can -- if that's what you are gonna use for just starting seeds. Do you have the individual fixtures, and are you able to hang them above the plants? Put them outside as soon as the cold weather really starts to disappear. They are going to be used to warmth being inside under lights.
i have a pretty big cfl and i was thinking of setting up a small closet grow right now. i know they aren't anywhere as hot as a HID, but they do produce a lot more heat than regular flos. my question is this - how hot does it get? how close to the plants can you put them without burning? sorry for changing the subject but i thought as long as we're talking about cfl's, why not ask another question about cfls?
adfaFd- I did a little test just now. I just attached two 14w bulbs into one photography light, which hase a reflector, using an adapter. I put a thermometer two inches away from the flos and it only reached 22 degrees(C not F). What can I say, I'm Canadian. Also do you or does anyone know if two of these kind would work for starting seeds
