Just a few bud shots I took yesterday. They are 7.5- 8 weeks in, two more weeks to go. The SCUD - Casey Jones - The Thai Line - she is a sexy bitch. Smells of earth, sweet tropical fruit, with hints of lemon and pepper. Her studly brother is going to be hitting the "bubba" girl below in about 1 month... The "Bubba" Kush - I put the bubba in quotes because I am not sure it's actually a bubba. This is the kushiest smellin plant I have. It blows away the SFV for kush smell. No coffee to it either, just straight kush fire. I am wondering if this is actually the OG OGKush. I dont know, gotta do some research. Anyway, the flush is on, and I will be burning this crop in about 3 weeks. Cheers
Damn Useless, those are some fine buds my friend! Nice to see you posting pics of your ladies for us. I love the looks of that Thai. How is the Casey Jones? Ive heard good thing about it. Peace
Casey is a great balance of TW and Sour D. Got a good cerbral high, and the flavor is diesel with hints of TW. I give it a thumbs up.
Cool, nice to hear coming from you :thumbs-up: Ive been wanting to try it myself, now I definately want to. Keep up the good work man.
As always nothing but the elite useless!!! I am green with envy!! Whats with the mystery plant!!! Teamster6
V~, RKY, MRA, CC - Thanks. Teamster, the Thai line or the "bubba"? The Thai line is definetely not a pure thai, but it retains mostly thai traits. She is a fast flowerer for a thai dom strain. I think the "bubba" clone is actually the OG OG Kush. Gotta make some calls to find out for sure. But it doesnt have any of the properties of bubba. No coffee smell, bud formation is different. This cut is just straight kush. Super small yield, but the smell is total fire. I will know more after some making some calls, and smoking a sample with a bro. Bud you sick fuck! Had to make that your avy didnt ya? :roffl:
MMhhhmmm. Always looking good Useless. Wouldn't want to share a few more would you? Like maybe a body shot of the Thai? How's it been to grow? Any unusual habits or characteristics? cheers,
I'll have to take some more pics Res. I only got some cola shots. As far as growing... Classic x-mas tree shape, kinda. She gets skinnier towards the bottom so the overall shape of the plant is more like a spear. I wonder if this is because I went with a vertical bare bulb. An equatorial Sat is used to lots of direct overhead light, and I wonder if that has something to do with the prolific long branching normally seen. Using the side lighting may have reduced the plants need to stretch out at the base. Nice buds protruding off every branch. Side branches aren't very long. Tripled in height at transition. She was little touchy on ferts during transition, but I totally blame myself. (Long story below*) After trans she has grown very well, takin whatever I give her. The buds are dense for a sat. Fluffy but still with some weight to em. The initial smell when brushing against a bud reminds me A LOT of the Bros Grimm C-99 pineapple pheno. Bud structure does a little bit too. Not saying that is the other part of the cross, just that it reminds me of it. But, then that great earthy smell with hints of lemon and pepper grab a hold of the ol factory glands. BTW Res, notice the size of the CST's? Little bity heads on em. Hopefully you can tell from the pic, maybe compare to the CST's of the "bubba". I can assure you, the thai line is just as frosty as the bubba, but because the heads are smaller it refracts less light from the flash so it doesnt come through in the photo's. *(Long story) These were my moms. I keep my moms in soil. When I went to flower these, I used FFOF and placed them from 2 gal. pots into 5 gal pots. A little over 2 weeks after the transplant and about 1 week into flower, I noticed a slight MG deficiency on most of the girls. So figured the soil was exhausted of MG, an the other base nutes would be shortly behind. A little fast to use the nutes in the soil, but these are big girls and they eat a lot. So...time to add some ferts. WRONG! Ended up with a slight MG def. and a P overdose. LOL Hit em with ferts a week or two too early. You see, I recently moved g-room locations. This is the first run in this location. The new location is only a few miles from my old one. Whats the difference? Different water source! The new location has 500-550 ppm tap at 8.4 Ph. Old location was 300 ppm at about the same Ph. I never tested the water because I figured it was the same source. Bad move. The extra Ca. in the new location caused the Mg to lock out, making me think the soil was exhausted of Mg. Didnt take long to see what was really the problem and correct it, but because it's soil, it obviously didnt correct as fast as I am use to in hydro. I had to break out the RO system and get it hooked up faster than I planned on, but it needed to be done anyway. Moral of the story...always check your water quality. This is why ppm and Ph meters are so handy, even for dirt chuckers. So for you noobs that read this, dont feel bad when things go wrong. I made a rookie mistake, and I been at this for a long time now. It happens. Just learn to read your plants, so you can take the proper corrective actions. Hope you all got a chuckle from my noob-esque fuck up. :roffl: Cheers Cheers
I'm not exactly a rookie either, but I recently got new ph and EC meters. I've always just improvised and tested the ph with the little drops in water and checking the color against a dumbass visual scale. Well, I guess the city water changed over the years and I found the reason my plants were looking funky was because my ph was below 4! I'm amazed the plants didn't die. So, I'm with you Useless, it doesn't take a noob to make dumbass noob mistakes. Now, I run a strict digitally metered ph and EC/ppm, and my future harvests should reflect that . . . you'd think anyway. I've also switched exclusively to your GH 3 part feeding schedule and I'm wondering if you use any Floralicious Grow/Bloom? BTW, I'm in week 2 of your feeding schedule and my nute solution reads right at 700ppm (on the x.5 chart) with a ph of 5.8. You do use the x.5 chart, right? Thanks once Useless for the great info!
:hello2: :hello2: :hello2: :hello2: :hello2: :hello2: :hello2: :hello2: :hello2: :hello2: :hello2: :hello2: :hello2: :hello2: And That Ladies and Gentlemen is why Useless is ....."The Man"!
haha nice chris...but yea....whoa....so the casey jones is a cross of the trainwreck and sour d???...i like that song. :thumbs-up:
Love the texture of sat's CST's. Makes you almost want to run your finger over the flowers. I keep comparing it to a velvet. Tripled in stretch? HMMmmm thanks for that info. When Thai hits dirt here we'll get to see how it handles FIM and tie downs. I liked the thickness of the cola for a sat. Much heavier packed without that spiral flower formation that I've seen in other thai's. That water thing...nice to see your human too. Thnx again for the lesson, cheers.
RKY, you can add floralicious if you want. Use it as directed. No need to change anything in the formula. I dont like to use it. TO me, it adds a disgustingly sweet flavor to the buds. I would much rather enjoy the natural flavor of the flowers. The Floralicious really just altered the terpene and terpenoid profiles too much for my liking. But some peole want that sickly sweet smoke, regardless if the strain is supposed to taste like that. Retiree- Thanks for the kind words. Big T - The Casey is TW x Thai x SD. I think it is (TW x Thai) x SD. Could be (TW x SD) x Thai tho. But I think the first is correct. This is the breeders selected pheno. Got a good Diesel stank to it, with the TW coming through in the undertones. SG - Thanks Res. Which Thai you got going? Is it a landrace? If so, highland or lowland thai? From what I can tell about this thai line, it is a highland thai base. It has the fruity, earthy flavors associated with that region. Lowland thai's are where the chocolate thai comes from, with a coffee and cocoa smell. This is sweet and fruity. I know it's not a pure thai, just because of the fast flower time and the density of the flowers. I have a landrace lowland thai that I have been thinkin about crossing with this one. Get back to some really cerebral thai highs. I would call her Polpot. LOL Just gotta decide which one to use the male from.
Seems like an appropriate question... Obviously the term "thai" gives direct correlation to a place...or a culture...but is one of the MAIN reason that thai is called this due to the way it is packaged, or harvested? (my grammar is so bad)...specifically smushed together and bundled? Obviously not nearly most of it is packaged like this anymore, but isn't that how it used to be? Nugg
Right on! I'd always wondered just what the benefit was. I've done grows with it and I've done grows without it. I just never paid any attention to the end result, cuz with my perpetual garden I often lost track of which went where and such things. Now, I'm on a new track and hopefully I can keep better track of things now that I have a refreshed interest in my grow show. Thanks Useless, you da man!
