Well, with good new's that my new beans will be here today from the Attitude, I wanted to make sure I had a good run of Blue Berry and keep me in bud till the northern lights and mk ultra and underdog og get's going. I had got some rockwool to try for the first time and figured I would test it out on the Blue Berry clones, her is a couple of pic's, I took some extra pic's of the other Blue Berry in rotation. The order goes...1. Mother Plant 2.rooting solution 3. Rockwool Clone 4. Transplant to veg 5. Budding in Flower. :flipando:For the Clones I used CloneX solution. /monthly_2013_11/mot.jpg.8f21011ae6fafd545da78078618a6adf.jpg /monthly_2013_11/solution.JPG.fd3cc8f58286f66acef8effd284f7521.JPG /monthly_2013_11/cl2.JPG.0eab22b0a17c72eb2761754bfb4da68b.JPG /monthly_2013_11/tra.jpg.21b28c82ef56364304769443097e045a.jpg /monthly_2013_11/flo.jpg.df045083d6620315d0b0ad0405908f25.jpg
I had to throw in the BUDDED Pic....:not-worthy: /monthly_2013_11/bu.JPG.674d07848abcc420bfc12f89c9a11554.JPG
Cubes didn't work good for me... Maybe I should have let the clones go longer, maybe my cool tube flow light's needs to be replaced.....But I really feel the rock wool didn't work as good as soil for me. In soil I can get good roots in 7 days fine. The rock wool I used didn't even have a single sprout coming out of the cube anywhere on the 8 I had cloned 10 days before. I think they hold too much water and then when planted into soil with out being rooted had just almost killed them. I was testing some different things, I got some that look like it's going to root but are way off from doing it and it's been 13 days now already. Hate these straglers I call them. SO I am going back to soil for the next batch and keep everyone happy, happy, happy....:coolbounce: Then go back and play with the cubes and see what I can tweek..
Bet you had them too moist. The cubes only need about 1 tbsn. of water every 2-3 days. Also, I get better results from not using the pre-made hole. Stick em in off to the side somewhere.
Yeah, I soaked the cubes for 24 hr's, and did use the pre drilled hole. I did see where someone else suggested to just stick them off the side of the hole, I will def do that next time. So I will try just putting a tsp on them every few days next time I try the cubes, I guess I will just check to make sure they don't dry out too much. 3 of the 8 clones are perking up in the veg chamber, I should of just left them in for a few more days, I was on a two week sched. as much as I have grown, patience is the thing I should have learned by now...
Not me. I've dried out rock wool cubes in 4 days, under a dome. However, I did have a seedling heat mat running under it. I roached 4 dutch passion blueberry seedlings that way. I water my cubes every 3 days until I see roots.
Rockwool works pretty well for me. After having done it about a dozen times and getting my technique down, several thing stand out: 1. These suckers need food after ten days, even without roots showing. I got tired of seeing brown leaves on half dead clones and now feed them half strength Useless veg week 3 nutes, with H2O2 added. No more brown leaves. Just because there aren't roots sticking out, doesn't mean they aren't hiding in the rock wool. 2. Mist with distilled water, not tap water, or the leaves get ugly mineral deposits on them. They get lightly misted for ten days, twice a day. 3. A humidity dome isn't needed, but a heat mat with a thermostat set to 80F is. i clone in a small cardboard box in an area with no fans. Kind of Mickey Mouse, but it works, since I don't need many clones. 4. A 20cc syringe works good for watering and feeding. I use ph'd dechlorinated tap water with 1.5cc/gallon of 35% H202 for watering. 5. A 7 watt curly-cue daylight CFL will support 6 clones perfectly. Maybe even 9. 6. Heft the rock wool cubes to see if they're getting light before watering. I check them twice a day. Some seem to need more water than others. 7. Small clones seem to work better than large clones. The small ones don't need to have the ends of the leaves trimmed, but are a little harder to get into the rock wool without kinking the stem. If the stem kinks, take another cut. I don't use the pre made hole either, preferring to make a smaller one with a toothpick. So far, if I don't count the very first time, the success rate is 100%, with roots appearing at anywhere from 14 to 21 days. (Sannie's green Killing Fields) Good luck, OS
Thanks for the info all, I feel I can get it down in the next few trys, I remember with my first cloning in soil was not as good as it is today...
