There are some growers out there that remove the fan leave's from the plant during the flowering period. The point is that when you remove the fan leaves from the plant it causes all kinds of new growth from the plants as far as bud site growth goes. So I decided to run a test grow using two lemon Berry plants. Both plants have the same amount of internoid spacing. Both are clones from the same mother plant, so the genetics are the same. Both will recieve the exact same nuts through the intire flowering period I removed the fan leaves from one plant and not the other one. Here they are. They will stay in the Veg box till wed and then both will go into the flowering room. I remove the fan leaves and then wait at least 4 days before I flip the switch to 12/12. This gives the plant a few day to get over the shock of the fan leaves being removed.
Thanks for asking Cannagirl, yes they are clone from the same plant. So genetics will be the same. :redbong:
HHHG the defoliating takes place before flipping to 12/12... that video is referring to pulling leaves late in flower. Thats an entirely different scenario... MrG pulling up my chair... move over Resin
lol guilty. I skimmed, didn't think I saw the word clones. It must have been late, I skimmed twice! Almost 3am......valid excuse :thumbs-up:
I always read. :read2: Do not remove fan leaves, because your plant needs them. Fan leaves suck up all available light, to create more, and denser buds. So I tried not remove them, cause i thought i would loose bud. :icon_confused: But I hope Mr. GJ can show me that this "Keep Leaves On" idea is non sense. So, Gl Mr. GJ and ill be watching this experiment. asssit:
i remove some but not all of them, my buddy removes all of them and gets crap yield. he dosnt use the same ferts as me either though and he removes them the whole flower period.
Alright everyone. I remove all the fan leaves normally about a week before I place the plant into the flowering room. I continue to pluck new fan leaves that develope during the next two weeks of growth at the top of the plant. Onece the stretch has stopped which is about two weeks I do not remove any more leaves. This has always worked great for me and I can see better results. The plants on the table in the picture below have all been defoliated before flowering.
