i have a mother plant with a little spider mite problem. someone told me that you could dip her in cold water and that would take care of the problem? another person said to use a mild miticide or neem oil solution and that would do the trick. does anyone have any input? can you submerge vegging plants or should i continue cleaning, clipping and spraying?
i've been using a neem oil spray, i'm really asking if you can submerge plants in cold water or neem oil spray or whatever?
i have tried lots of methods and sprays with spider mites and one of the biggest problems with spider mites is that you have to treat the problem over a period of time. Even if you kill the adult mites there are still eggs that have to be taken care of. they reproduce very quickly and reach a reproducing age in a matter of a cupl days. which allows for a population to expand exponentially at a very fast rate. Therefore, i highly doubt that submerging the plant in cold water would do any good. it could, however, lead to mold and bud rot. getting rid of mites is a difficult process depending on a lot of factors, including, but not limited to, temperature, humidity, severity of infestation........ any way they can be a bitch.......... i'll help if you need it.
lately i've been using a neem oil and dr.bonner's peppermint spray and a shultz pyrethrum spray. i clean the rooms constantly and there has been little trouble in the flower room. one plant is slighlty affected but i'm too close to finish to give up now. on the mom plant i've clipped some of the really bad leaves and pitched them. what else would you recommend.
be sure you pay attention to not only the under sides of the leaves but also the dirt, they lay most of their eggs in the soil from my experience...i found if you fluff up the dirt and spray the shit out of it! i use "foxfarm bugg off" then the eggs have a harder time hatching. they are a bitch but taking a few days to really attack then will usually do the trick.
