Okay, a little late I read that if you use dolomite in your soil you don't need to worry about pH.  Can I put a layer of it on top of the soil?  If so, how thick a layer?

    Rad Girl,

I don't think it's such a good thing to layer it on top of your soil. I read somewhere (here)that not thoroughly mixed will cause root burn. I learned of it (adding lime to neutralize soil)too late also but I mixed 1/4 cup with a gallon of water and shook well before a normal watering(the plant's in a five gal bucket). That may not be the thing to do, but it seemed to work well on one of my plants.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll just check pH with the waterings and try to catch a problem before it's severe.
