    Which method do you go by? I have been reading a little on this and it seems to me that going by the EC reading to adjust your ferts. is a bit easyer.

    They are essentially the same, only different...:ponder:

    EC = Electro-Conductivity; These are the measurement units of a salts ability to conduct electric current in a soluable form.

    TDS = Total Disolved Solids; the actual amount of disolved salts in the solution.

    Now, you can easily convert from EC to TDS and vice versa.

    Use this formula:

    FOr any EC reading between 0.0 - 0.9, multiply by 680 to determine TDS

    FOr any EC reading 1.0 or above, multiply by 700 to determine TDS

    EX.- EC=1.2; therefore 1.2 x 700 = 840 TDS!

    TO go backwards, just divide.

    If you have a TDS meter that reads 1250, then;

    1250/700 = 1.785 EC.

    Its that easy.

    They tell you the same thing, just in different measurement units.
