Hi everybody who's tuned in. OK , I recentley read that using filtered water (AKA softened water) is not good for the plants. (No explanation) so my guess is micro nutrients are trapped by the filter?? I used the filtered water because of chlorine in the city water. So am I better off letting tap water set for 24hrs ( to evapoate the chlorine) or using filtered water?? Next.............Smoking fan leaves.. I used to be a pretty regular smoker, but with kids and life I've been out of the loop. Now with my new grow, I have had some fan leaves yellowing and dying off. I saved them, and dried them. Looking at them with a loop I see thricomes (spelled right)?? More so towards the base. And damn if it don't give be a buzz!!! Now I know this is a low end buzz... but I get the impression that if it's not a bud, it's no good!!?? On aside Back in the early seventies, I remember a buddy of mine sitting with a double album (I think it was Emerson ,Lake and Palmer) between his knees and deseeding the stash saying, "someday they'll have pot with NO seeds!! ottytrain1:
Yes, you can smoke the leaves. People generally don't because the bud is so much better and because the leaves are often used to make hash. So, toke up and enjoy!
i find the leaves very unpleasant and harsh to smoke, imo , if i have no smoke, id have to be jonesing for a session pretty bad to smoke up a bowl of fan leaves...
defintly man i would smoke those leaves if i didnt have anything esle.pretty harsh yes but hey its better then nothing at all and if you are a heavy smoker like me.im the kind of person that will get high play some video games or somthing liek that..play my bass guitar or w/e that is interesting to me at the time.then got eat! then get high again its repeating lolz stay up!
Nothing wrong with filtered water. I use a carbon filter to clean my water (the kind that attaches to the faucet). Works great! Softened water is different. A water softener will add sodium (salt) to the water which can build up in the soil and is bad for the plants.
Soft water BAD... Most soft water systems use SALT....BAD for plants....R.O. or distilled...even purified are OK......never soft...If your tap water is soft(using salt), I would recommend buying other water...but letting it sit out for 24 hrs is better than straight out of the tap.... As far as the leaves, heck, they have thc in them, if not in minute amounts...Check out how to make cannabutter(my preference) or hash! Might as well get what you can from it! AB....your'e sneaky...just sqeaked right in there...lol! Yeah, ditto.....
Water softening Thanks for the info on water softening. I did not know softeners used salt. Anyhow the in line filters I use are not that kind. SO thankyou for the feed back. As always, you all are the best!
You can use 100% of the plant...buds, leaves for cannabutter/hash, the rest of the plant can be composted. The circle of life.
I always use tap water and just let it set out for a couple of days.... Allsmilez is dead on with the water softener....lots of salt and NO good for plants. Only reason I know is when I was married ....we had one and all my house plants took a wicked beating from it but luckily they lived. Now as for smoking leaves...it is way harsh but you can catch a buzz from it s my dad smokes them...hahha Now personally>>>it would make me cough up a lung but he does not waste anything off his plants. Making Cannabutter would be better IMO but hey.....lol my dad says I am a sissy for NOT smoking the leaves.....but ewwwwww!! Then again like most of you stated>>>if i had nada>>>I would.
