i started grow this summer and i didnt really think they would grow boy was i wrong now im wondering am i growing them wrong or something cause they dont look like any of the pictures i seen on here i cant remember when i started growing but maybe about a month and a half for the biggest plant and the others i have no clue they are being grew out side in pots just sun light a water anything i should do to them or are they doing fine tl;dr why are my plants skinny?
skinny plants What kinds of reading and research have you done? You might be able to find some answers around here somewhere. .The only thing I can think of at the moment is just real obvious stuff. Do you feed the bigger plants with any type of nutrients? What type of soil are you using? Is it yard soil. I dunno, one of the things ive read the most about plants that grow skinny like that is that they arent getting enough light. But if youve got them outside in the August sun, that shouldnt be you problem. Are u watering with water straight from the hose? I just learned a valuable lesson in ph. I had been fucking up by not checking the ph and my plants weree suffering because oif it. Im just a noob on my second grow, but id like to be qable to offer up some help and start giving back to the GK community. Personally, id recommend reading every piece of FAQ this site has to offer. The new seedlings actually donyt look too bad to me.
Are the plants outside in direct sunlight, or undercover somewhere? I had similar issues with my plants which were directly related to not enough light. You'd think that even undercover a lot of light would get under there to the plants, but to make them compact they really need to be hit with the light directly. Ideally you'd end up seeing all those nodes stretching up your plants really tight together, around every centimeter or two. As always, the pros can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I'm fairly new to this myself, but that's my two cents. Good luck and happy growing!
Leaves areyou plucking the fan leaves? they are needed for photsynthisis i dont take any that arent at least 50% gone:icon_scratch: :bong2: :welcome: assit: :fly:
to the other post yes they are getting sun directly. now to the person im quoting no nutrients just plain water its garden soil from my grams it has 20 years of adding cow poo and nutrients its fresh and as good or better then soil bought at a store light is not a problem it gets light all day yea water from my sink but i got a well so it doesnt have any chemicals in it now the ph i never tested does it matter that much? and if so where could i buy a good ph tester not them stupid strip on
no im not cutting any of the leafs of its just how its grow i guess tall and skinny /edit well i only cut off the leafs that were turning brown and dying
variables OK bro. PH really really is that important. If you look at some of the other threads in here, you'll see one I started reh. I lived on well water for a few years and it was HARD water. It had so many minerals and shity in it that washing whites left them with mineral stains. I dont know if you have hard water or if you have a water softener installed to balance it out. I suppose unmmitigated, mineral-laden well water might produce some sort of problems at the root level. It sounds like your soil is incredibly rich, buyt even the best of soil in a pot growing a plant for over 30 days may need some nute replenishing. Ph test kits can be found at basic gardening shops and nurseries. Do u have like a "hydro" shop in your town that sells cannabis growing materials as well as "regular" gardening fare such as veggies, flowers, etc? If you go to Wal-Mart or Target or some such store, u could even find ph testing kits with the swimming pool equipment. With ph, its helpful to have "ingredients" to raise and lower the ph of your water and nutrient solution. For me, its a process of titration with "ph up" and "ph down". I use very fine powdered lime to raise the ph and an organic substance to lower the ph. You will prolly get a ph color reference table with your testing kit and instructions on how to use the reference during the up/down tiyration process. I still wonder about your well water. Ours was so calcium laden that it would prolly eventually just make your roots totally locked. I hope im helping bro.
it really looks like they are not getting enough direct sun light, how many hours do they get? Also, I saw at least one plant that lost some lowers leaves, which would probably be caused by a nitrogen deficiency. In the last pic you can see a elongated pot with multiple plants in it, its not good to have more than one plant in one pot. If you can, put them in their own pots You said they are outside right? If so, then the fourth and biggest problem is that you are too late to get anything decent out of those. Its late August and its flowering time outside, and your plants are not mature and certainly not ready to flower. You might get a small harvest, if they start flowering soon. , don't mean to be a downer, just givin ya my thoughts
The plants look healthy to me  Just stretchy. Guess the question is how many hours of direct sunlight are they getting? They look similar to plants grown under forested cover. cheers,
