First time tending garden in a friggin year

Man it feels good to have a garden going again even if it just a bunch of moms in the old closet humming away waiting for their new space to be built. With the LED's still a week &1/2 or so away I'll should have plenty of time to build out two 5x6 rooms from scratch. Other then the lights and maybe a little duct work & some intake filters everything else I need on hand. I've been racking up some serious Amazon Prime points.


I'm most grateful for a trusted friend who gifting me as many rooted clones in solo cups as I could wrap my arms around so I could restart with a healthy stable.

Life is GRAND and slowly returning to some sort of normalcy, no doubt a little soil under my nails is a good sign

Meanwhile back at the farm it's beginning to get a little crowded in the ol'closet. It's been out of the saddle for so long I'd forgotten just how quickly they grow when they're nice n happy and under a decent light. I have a nice 12'x15' space cleared out in the basement, plenty of room for two nice flower chambers, a large veg box and a nice work station. I should have the new flower spaces built out & the new LED's fired up by next weekend as long as the brown truck arrives.

 

They'll be plenty of room for them and then some come next weekend. With the new LED's on the way it's time to really get busy building out the new flower rooms before the moms overgrow the closet. Finally managed to make the time start framing them out tonight & should be pulling wire by the end of tomorrow evening. With any luck at all I'll have everything ready and waiting for the brown truck drop off the last piece of the puzzle.


They'll be two 5x6 flower rooms with each one getting 3 60" Rapid light bars spaced 16" apart. the work bench on the left will stay and be used for a cloning area & the moms will live in a veg box under the bench. The old closet & 600 Mh will be used vegging until I convert that to LED as well.

and did you sink those into the floor yet? you may want to give yourself some room to move once inside by making the room slightly larger than grow area.

Nip I considered making the flower rooms a bit larger but there's just not enough space if I want to keep my overall footprint of 12X14 functional. I'll post up another pic later this evening but basically I'm enclosing the two 5x6 spaces in a larger room the will contain everything else as well as a decent sized drying rack. Everything has to be contained, stealthy and very secure so as much as I'd like to have room to walk around the plants It's just not feasible unless I expand the outer room which would encroach on my laundry & fuel storage are for the pellet stove. They'll be plenty of room for flowering out 10-12 plants per room & with a 3' wide door I should have sufficient access to tend garden.


I've decided against drywall but it's not going to be just panda over the studs either. The interior walls with the exception of wall between the two flower rooms will be insulated with batt insulation and sheathed using 2" dow board (pink foam) for both thermal and sound insulation & the exterior of the outer room will have OSB or plywood as well. You'll be able to stand outside the room and not hear a thing unless you put your ear against the door. From the outside it will appear to be just another storage / studio space.


I've read a bit about the reflective properties of Tyvek so as an experiment one room wil get panda film over the dow board and the other will be wrapped with Tyvek. once everything is up and running a light meter will quickly show which once does a better job of sending the light back to the plants. I'm not sure what the HPS equivalent will be but I know there's going to be shit ton of light from the LEDs so the reality is it I could probably just paint the foam and still be killing it as far a light goes but I'm curious about the Tyvek & have a roll on hand so I'm going to use it. with a much light and Im going to be using there will be complete coverage over the entire 30 sq.ft area with no tapering off around the edges like I've seen with a single HPS.


Ventilation for each room will be handle by two 8" Vortex "S" series fans with built in baffles in case I ever decide to add Co2 plus they're really quite, much more so then the Panasonic Whisper line fan's I'm currently in the closet. The outer room with have one 6" fan w/ a scrubber to handle the smell of curing buds ect. the goal is no smell no tell . Everything except the smaller 6" fan will exit the house below the rear deck.


Something that I've been considering is building a raised platform in each room and using PVC shower pan liner to basically make tables with a drain. I'm doing this for two reasons, 1 to make flushing easier and 2 nd. I'll be all setup should I decided give tables a try down the road, way down the road....
