i have 3 smaller clones in my house in a room right now, basically waiting for my flower tent to be empty. i have probably 2 more weeks, tops, on the chicks in there right now before i chop. i really need to start these 3 flowering now though, for time reasons. right now they are under a few 100W CFL's just hanging out in a spare room. if i throw them into flower right now, how will that affect them in a couple of weeks when i can move them into their big girl 'room'? i know with that low of lighting i'm not going to really start booming, but the idea is to get the ball rolling. am i wasting my time with that little/type of light? can i flower with just CFL's? will it affect anything if/when i go from puny CFL's to 600W HPS in a couple of weeks? should I just suck it up and wait? Id say hold out, but u know me... Starting 12s under ur flos may cause them to stretch out more if the light isn't intense enough. In order to get the lumens out of flos u have to be really close. Within a couple few inches. So think of it this way anything not within 3" of ur bulbs is gonna wanna stretch. And if it doesn't have good airflow moving the stem around it'll be stretched and weak. Prolly wouldn't be drastic but I'm kinda into the 'doneright'
I'd find some way to "squeeze" the 3 small girls into the existing area. I'm sure it won't be easy, but I think you'd be able to find enough room for them to go in right now if thats what you want. Then once the "existing" ones are done, in a few weeks, you can give the 3 little girls all the room the need. But, thats just how I'd do it.
I used to flower with just CFLs alone and was able to pull a very decent amount. Just keep em close and you will be fine. The most important part of flowering as far as quantity goes is the second half so you should be just fine IMO. Here is an all CFL plant about 2.5-3 weeks into flower. She didn't stretch any more than a HPS plant would have. They don't stretch too much if you give them enough CFL light and the real budding won't really even be starting till about 3 weeks + anyways. I say go for it just keep em close and lots of air movement like Goblin said.

I'm willing to bet that Green Goblin would say hold out, but u know him... Starting 12s under ur flos may cause them to stretch out more if the light isn't intense enough. the reason i want to do it now instead of wait is because i might be heading out of town for work this fall, and i want my grow to be done with before i leave. i don't have anyone to take care of it. i get the stretching thing, they've been under CFL's for the whole veg since clone, and they're very strong & bushy. this is them just last week, and they have almost doubled in size & fullness. (CFL's are amazing, i just want to say....) i could easily throw a couple more light clips on there and bump up the light.... i've heard of people doing entire grows with CFL's, although i can't remember much else, as far as yield, quality, etc. i probably could squeeze them into the flower tent right now, but since i've lost a plant and a half, i've tied everything up in there to try to get as much exposure as i can to the smaller bottom buds - try to compensate for my losses my girls in there are pretty wild anyways, no pruning, just big fluffy 70's porn bush, really, and take up some space... your plants look nice, Canna, gives me hope for CFL's, whether i do this, or if summer gets too hot, if i have to do the whole grow w/CFL's.... i can always add more lights.... thanks for the input, folks! peace GTWT :XXhippylove:
Thats what i was gonna say. Shit instal a small shelf on the wall closer to the light if possible with out burnin. But yeah this is the best way IMO. But shit two weeks isnt that long.
