Here's one that we should all sign: https://wwws.whitehouse.gov/petitions#!/petition/pardon-marc-emery/z7QQdhq7
I dont like the idea that he tried to hog the whole legalazation thing towards his company and affiliates. t6
i agree also he is the most arrogant canadian i have seen....almost all canadians are great....nice polite, just great peeps...not many type A personalities...(unless playing hockey, ay) but that guy is off the hook... i will have to pass as well...
Regardless of Mr. Emery's politics or personality or whatever, I don't believe he deserves to serve 5 years in a foreign prison for something that is not even a crime in his home country. Especially when he was not targeted for what he did, but for what he represents. It's not right no matter who he is.
Just when this petition reached 5,000 sigs, the rules changed. The threshold for a response has been raised from 5,000 sigs to 25,000. Of course the White House reserves the right to increase that threshold at any time.
Marc Emery certainly doesn't deserve to be serving time for a crime against the USA when he never set foot in the USA and sold anything illegal. All business was conducted from his home country and that is Canada. So if he is going to be convicted of a crime and serve time for it, shouldn't it at least be in the country where he lives? You don't see the DEA going after the european seed bank owners. Regardless of his political views or business practices he is one of the foremost leaders in the marijuana legalization movement worldwide. I say free Marc Emery.
his crime was essentially tax evasion, conducting business without proper licensure/permit, etc... he's a fairly prominent figure in the cannabis sub-culture and non-American and so therefore there's no way in hell he'll get a pardon without hefty monetary encouragement.
