well guys and girls i'm getting ready to make a big upgrade to my grow but first I need to figure out how much it's gonna cost to run.

ok I understand the formula to figure out how much a 1000w bulb costs, but I don't understand my bill. It breaks it down into Fuel and Nonfuel charges.

    Fuel:
    (first 1000 kwh @ $0.038570)

    (over 1000 kwh @ $0.048570)

Non Fuel:( first kwh @ $0.046990)

    (over 1000 kwh @ $0.056990)

whats the number I should be using to figure out the costs.

If it helps my last bill was a total of 2808 kwh. that was $126.38 in fuel charges and $150.03 in non fuel charge, plus the usual $60 in taxes and fees...

    Thanks

If it was me, Id calculate using the more expensive rates at all times. That way if you manage to comsume less than you planned on, you just end up paying less than expected. Sounds like a plan to me...

Also, you said your last bill was for a total of 2808 kwh. Seems like you're pulling over 1000kwh for both fuel and non fuel charges as is. Pretty obvious choice to me.

ok but do I add both fuel and non fuel and that's the kwh I use?

Fuel charges are their costs to actually generate the power, passed on with no markup. Non fuel charges are the markup, operating costs, etc.

So add both and multiply by the new usage. Most (or all) of the taxes/fees will also go up as some are percentage based, while others may be flat fees.

Your bill will have it broke down into parts. Electric and Gas. Then each has it's own usage rates. The bill will show you how much you use monthly and anything over 1000KWH will be billed at the higher rate. Only the first 1000KWH is billed at the lower rate. You can decipher the billing statment, but it isn't easy.

Be thankful, our Tiered Rates go from 500KWH of about $.48 to the bumped up rate of nearly $.96 per KWH afterward.

FUCKING BULLSHIT if you ask me!

Be thankful Xcel Energy hasn't got ahold of your asses yet!:alien11:

  6. I pay more for "delivery charges" then I do for the actual power consumed. Talk about some bullshit!

Looks like the dreaded 3 tier power syndrom. Out here they have the three tier system two. Only we dont have the fuel charge. Anything over 2000 kwh and wham you get the high rate. As stated before add the fuel and the rate I would use the highest one
