This recipe was reportedly given by God to Moses... from wikipedia... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Holy anointing oil described in Exodus30:22-25 was created from: 500 shekels (about 6 kg) of myrrh, according to the Ra'avad. Maimonides translates this substance as musk half as much (about 3 kg) of fragrant cinnamon, 250 shekels (about 3 kg) of kaneh bosm/cannabis 500 shekels (about 6 kg) of cassia, and a hin (about 4 L according to Shiurei Torah, 7 L according to the Chazon Ish) of olive oil. The oil was used to anoint the vessels of the Tabernacle and the High Priest. It is traditionally regarded as the oil used by prophets to anoint Saul, David, and other kings of ancient Israel. Prophets were also entitled to be anointed with the Holy oil. The title Christ / Messiah means literally covered in oil, Anointed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I found a modernized recipe... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1/4 oz bud 8 oz olive oil 30 drops of pure myrrh extract 15 drops of pure cinnamon leaf extract 30 drops of pure cassia cinnamon bark extract Heat the olive oil in a double boiler. Stir in herb and heat for 20 minutes. Strain the oil and squeeze all the oil out of the herb and discard herb. Stir in the extracts and let cool. It is now ready to be applied. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm planning on trying this for medicinal use and will report back with my findings. Jack Herer liked it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXoZtD-q4tk
Glad to see someone else found this. I ran across the same recipe a while back, but forgot to save. Thanks for posting. I'm imagining this after a day of skiing. Knees, back - Tiger Balm is great, but imagine this goes a step further in easing the pain. Right now it's a little hemp oil rubbed in with Coconut oil - simple, but effective. Cheers! ~Kojak
The olive oil has been cooking for 24 hours in the crock pot, 12 hrs on low and 12 on high. The boiling point of olive oil must be high because it never started boiling. I know the slow cooker works fine because I just made pot roast in it yesterday. I'm about to go strain it and add other ingredients when it cools.
The finished oil smells nice with the three essential oils mixed in. I put it in empty 3oz plastic squeeze dispensers from walmarts 'travel size' dept.
