Ok, so I had an issue a few months back, I discovered (much to the amusement of some of my pals here) that I had spider mites. My tent it was mainly in was in early veg stage. I set off a bug bomb in the adjacent room, door open, as well as spray the plants with pyrithrin really well. I also bought some neem oil for regular upkeep.

I spray both tents every other water (every 10-ish days) with neem and although I still see white spots, it's been small, and steady.

I went in there last night and WHOOPTY FUCKIN DO DAH I've got mites all OVER the place!! (the original problem tent) Wasn't anything like that a few days ago, just seemed to gremlin-style spread overnight.

I emptied my pyrithrin bottle in that tent, soaked all my plants, tried to get as much underneath as I could, and then drained my neem oil bottle on my other tent (which is only very mildly infected)

My plants are early flower (4 weeks, if that) and I'm curious if setting off a bomb right next to the tent would be detrimental to my buds. My 2 strains are longer flower (11 weeks, about) so they're not too big yet, but they look SOOOO nice this time, and I don't want to screw it up.

I'd like to try a bomb, only a lot closer proximity, but what affect will this have on my buds, you think???? :dontknow:

My sympathies, I feel for you!

Yup, I told you. You'll be hard pressed to get rid of them without a complete tear down of both veg and flower rooms. Then even if you kill every last one of them, you'll have to make some adjustments in order to keep them out. It's hard when you have so many ways in which to contaminate the rooms.

You would need air filtration fine enough to stop the baby mites. That means a bit or work and money to upgrade you air circulation system. You could run a sealed recirculating system but then you need air conditioning and cO2 enrichment.

i have had the same problem here in my home grow. Once I got the spider mites in there, I haven't been able to get rid of them completely. I use a lot of neem oil on a regular basis. It does kill them but I don't think it kills their eggs. So I re-apply it every few days. I f I notice a particularly nasty flare up of them, I break out the pyrethrin. I use the pyrethrin on all my vegetative plants and moms. I treat all my flowering plants with neem as soon as I flip the switch and then again at least two more times during the first 10 days of flowering, before they really start to develop their buds. I really drench them. I take them to the bathtub and spray them until they are dripping and falling over from the weight of all the spray.

No matter what I do, they are still there. I just keep treating them and they have been controlled. I haven't had full on infestation with webs and all in a while. They are very persistent and it can be super frustrating trying to deal with them. I feel for you. We're spider mite buddies! :thumbs-up: :dog-nana: :roffl:

Good luck in your fight! Keep us posted.

I have to go and treat all my clones and moms in a little while, before they flare up and get an infestation going.

AZATROL is a great product to have around......its expensive but great, i personally spray that and use neem oil as a last resort...but have also used neem oil as my main defence and it seemed decent but not quite azatrol....I also use a few boms at the same time during my veg only......NOT IN FLOWER!!!!! your buds will taste like ATM and smell like used motel sheets......and i also use some Dont Bug Me spray from FOXFARMS......it seems to keep them at bay, plus if you can grow the largest plant possible they cant keep up with the plant and tend to stay in one area, more so than EAT the entire SMALLer plant....that much i have noticed

    Good luckGTWT

    my spider story

i tried everything that people above had tried until i just gave up...i changed everything including where my grow room was....also the kind of dirt i used....all equipement,,, pots, ....i cleaned the previous area....put a fan in the room before my grow room that only blows the air out of the pre-grow room...

the only thing you can do is break down everything ...clean with clorox...change pots...dirt...(spider eggs in dirt was my problem, mg)then make sure your air cannot come into your room unless it is filtered....dont let animals anywhere near the grow area...

    good luck...

i have not had spider eggs since i did all of the above...about a 1-2 years now..

    noooo god noooooo!!!

Fuck mites you're gonna deal with them if you garden. I switch often so they don't build a tolerance to one thing. Keep your room clean no dirt or leaves period maintaining it clean. Neem is for maintenance.. I use a combo of azomax and pyganic for knockdown then I soil drench with it. safer soap end all is all during late flower.and if they get really out of control and I'm still 5 weeks out from harvest and or I get tired of fucking with them floramite SC. It's what my friend the strawberry farmer turned me on to:thumbs-up:

    thanks all, guys :5grouphug:

so i'm on the right track, soaking to bijibbers out of them.

i can't exactly do a teardown, but mr. thumb and i have talked about remodeling the house in the next year possibly, and it includes a sweet grow area INSIDE, not that retarded bullshit shenanigans in a shed. boo. so then i can start from scratch and have everything totally filtered, sparkly clean and sterile.

until then, looks like i'll be keeping some pyrth. companies in business! :)

    peace and thanks a bunch

i've thought about that, but that would be a total losing battle. i have tons of flowers, it's windy and dry as shit here (ie stuff gets blown around in the air) and for the amount of bug juice it would take to possibly rid my lawn of them, i'm not willing to dump that kind of chemical around here. i don't even really like the pyrith, but it's a necessary evil, you know?

thanks though, if it were a little easier, it might be an option i would try out, but it's not. :(

I just caught an infestation when I was taking clones myself, once you get them cleaned out get some "Hot Shot No Pest Strips". They do a great job of keeping them at bay or if you catch them early, but if they have taken over it's best to do a total clean out and fumigate.

Mite may go away on vacation, but they'll be back!

:bug3:I'm a fellow mite-hater! In your original mite thread, I told you how I deal with them little fuckers. But, in your situation, my method wouldn't work because your yard is the source of the infestation and your not able to isolated your grow. So, I suggest battling them until your able to make an early harest worth while.

Then you can regroup indoors and put the odds back in your favor.:bug3:

I'm very sorry your having to deal with this problem, but it is something VERY familiar to veteran growers. You will find a method, location that work best for you. :)

    Good luck sister!:affro: :bug3:

The other way to go in this direction is to get some of that bug spray that people use around their houses. Its not a whole-yard thing, but rather a barrier around a structure (IE spray it around the shed). We used that at an old house of ours to keep the ants at bay.
