    Anybody do it?

I did it once a long time ago, but just recently I've bought a new kit off the internet and have made two batches, the "Australian Lager" that came with the kit, and a nut brown ale.

The lager is is bottled and ageing for a couple weeks. The ale is close to getting bottled.

Really looking forward to drinking my homebrew. It fits in pretty well with the hole diy vibe of growing your own. I'm getting interested in growing shrooms as well.

If I drank I'd be brewing. The hydro shop near me is also a home brew place. I wander all the racks of goodies thinking how much fun it would be. You should do a canna ale or THC infused lager using hash.

Please keep us updated, I have been wanting to try this for a while now. I have been looking at gear to make a still for white lighting (I know, you are doing beer). I had that shit once a long time ago, I knew this old black lady, she was at least 90, that made the stuff in the back woods of Alabama. Holy shit, what a kick in the ass!

Ya Im intrested in growing shrooms also.

Its kinda cheap, but easy to fuck up, because things have to be very sterile, and clean. but ones you get things going, its easy, and time taking.

The reason I am intrested, is because I just did the most potent shrooms, and wanna make my own, and not havng to buy them.

Holy shit, I was so fucked up. It makes the Bhang drink seems like just apple juice....:roffl::roffl:

I think I can make shrooms grow, but I think my brew will come out like shit, but who knows. Give us a try, and tell us how it went, and taste. Very Intrested in that also.

I brew my own. Banjo burner is a god send get's 6 gallons of water boiling FAST. I use a live yeast culture not dry. I usually do different beers pending on the season. I have been looking at one of these though to make things oh so fucking simple. They claim that thing can brew beer in days not weeks by providing perfect environment. Check it out

Moonshine is actually beer usually, it's yeast, sugar and corn. Let it ferment for a week then by stilling it you are condensing it. So take 50gal of "mash" or unrefined beer and you'll get about 10 gal of some potent shine. Proof it down with some water and you're good prolly get about 12.5 gal of drinkable firewater. I recently learned a recipe for apple pie shine which is different as it let's apple juice ferment then distill it. Building your still is easy peasy mayne. Copper with food grade silver solder nothing special or stainless steel which can be a bitch to weld unless you are that guy. I thought the "thumper" was unnecessary but it is totally the deal for good beading shine. Acts like a secondary junk collector and get's the pressure a bit more stable.

I started growing shrooms about 4 months ago. It's really easy as long as you treat it as something you are just dabbling into. Otherwise it can be a bitch. The only way I made it work was by buying a kit and spores and following the directions to a T. I ordered the ultimate kit from http://www.midwestgrowkits.com/grow-kits.html and I also buy premixed and sterilized sub jars from them all with 5 star service. Which to me is discreet packaging and billing and at my door within the week. Spores from Ralph's and you are friggin set. FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. I have one full harvest and a set fruiting now. The first harvest which was 18 jars I got 2 full sandwich bags worth dried. I didn't weigh them but I'd imagine an oz give or take that was with 2 asian strains not noted for their mass but for the buzz. I ate about 6 whole mushies on 2 occasions and was fucked up for about 2-3 hours with intense visuals (saw a scale miniture railroad in our campsite)then just the normal no sleep body buzz the rest of the night. Everyone that took them said they were super clean yet packed a punch.

Good idea. I've done both, brewed my own beer and grown my own mushrooms.

My favorite beer is the Nut Brown Ale the I've brewed. Great flavor and everyone loved it better than the store bought.

Like you, I start with the kits, but you can always add a few items if you think it will improve the flavor.

    Cheers!

ofo fuck all that mayne. Buy the premixed presterilized jars midwest sells they are cheap compared to trying to get a good pressure cooker and actually getting the jars truly sterile. In my opinion it is the only way to do it.

My buddy is a home brewer and loves it. Beer's pretty good, too.

A few yrs. ago, I grew some shrooms. It's easy! Hardest part for me was keeping everything in the proper temp. range, given my current situation.

My second batch, nut brown ale!!, is about ready to get bottled. I stirred it last night and put the tank on the heated carpet to warm up the yeasts a bit and see if they didn't still have a bit more to give me. Will check the gravity tonight and see where she lies.

Was trying to do shrooms recently, but they didn't turn out. I grew Golden Teacher via the Pf Tek method many times in my uni days and tried to do the same thing again except with pint jars instead of half-pint ones. I order 4 different types of spores from The Spore Depot. I don't think I found any other sites that shipped internationally. I inoculated the jars, but the mycelium only grow a bit and then stopped. I inoculated them with more spore solution, but they didn't grow. I still have one full spore syringe.

I'm trying to figure out if my method was off or the spore syringes weren't very good. A long time ago I order to Japan one of those pre-sterilized grow bags with the rubber injection port, but it got infected. Those bags would be nice and save me a lot of trouble.

Slow slowly, I will get it sorted out. I also bought a book Magic Mushrooms of the World and there are a few native Psilocybe species here. I'm not planning on running out and picking some right away, but there are plenty of edible species around here also and it's something I want to learn. Lots of people go to the mountain in the Fall and pick shrooms. I went with a group once and found a huuuuge amount of these delicious ones growing out of a fallen tree. We had an awesome outdoor cook-up.

Hank Bro, just be very carefull, and research the shrooms you pick very therly. One bad mushrooms, and you are out of this world. I hate reading all this stories about people dieng from eating the wrong shrooms, I believe few just recently at an old people center.

I did 2 cow pasture runs back in the day, and both were success, getting Liberty Bells, which are the lowest strenght shrooms in the world. But I remember sitting in the car with few people, at 1 am, Laughing on how this is fucking a miracle, showing wet shrooms by the handfull down my throat, not thinking about the consequenses. Thank God, these were legit, and didnt get poisoned or dead.

I hear ya man. The one book I'm reading shows a pic of these psilocybe type shrooms growing right next to a deadly poisonous variety and they look very close, but that book also says if a shroom has a gelitanous pellicule (sp? something like that) and shows a dark brown to dark purple spore print than you can be like 99% sure it's psilocybe. So, I wouldn't be able to eat them fresh if I had to take a spore print to verify.

I'm looking at long term. If I'm lucky enough to find a wild variety eventually, then it will be fruiting in a specific environment at a certain time of the year, and I should be able to become familiar enough with it. Also, would like to make some outdoor beds in my yard on wood chips or something with store bought spores or whatever.

A lot of people grow shiitake mushrooms here on logs outside in shady wooded areas. They sell the goods at the home center.

That site seems to ship internationally. Nice tip.

Oops, I spoke too soon. I'm not on their list of countries they ship to.

    The search goes on.

Steel, If we were to get this Kit, right and started to do this. Is the only thing that need to be sterile is the jars, and the spore needle? And I can just reuse the tub over and over again with out cleaning, so I would just buy the sterile jars, spore needle and vermucelite over and over again for new batches? coming out with good results?

    Thanks for info btw,

Sorry Hank, didnt want to get off Topic, Bud. :read2:

    Keep that brew turning :)

I wouldn't say with out cleaning but yeah. You are correct you can reuse the equipment. You would just need more prepacked jars and spores. The hard part is getting them to germinate and colonize which happens totally inside the sealed jars. This is where it's super important there is no contamination at all. It's not till the substrate is covered COMPLETELY that you take the cakes out of the jar. Which took me almost 2 weeks the first time I did it. This time it was about 9 days. Both has more than one strain of spores so I guess it's because I had some practice? idk I just cross my fingers and follow the directions to a tee still fuck experimenting I just want some shrooms for camping n shit.

I just got all the ingredients rounded up for a batch of Irish Stout. I'll be boiling this weekend. :5obsessed:

The mushrooms you found in the woods are called Maitake (Ram's Head, Sheep's Head, or Hen-of-the-woods).

Mine weren't maitake. They sell maitake in the supermarket here. Actually, there were shitloads of two kinds on the tree I found. One was called hiratake (flat mushroom) and I forgot the other one's name, but it was the same basic discish shape.

It was really the sweetest find. I think I had about as many mushrooms as the other ten people combined.

They are quite big on mushrooms here. Big variety in the store. I had some maitake tempura the other week. Very delicious.
